Hi am going to japan soon and I i'm looking to buy some good light novels, but this site doesnít have any information about a lot of the light novels I have been looking at. So I have no way of telling what itís going to be about or if itís any good. I am in desperate need of help as soon as possible.

I am looking for something serious with at least a romantic subplot. Itís ok if it has a bit of comedy but I am not looking for a comedy series, so comedy canít be the main theme. It would be nice if it was about star-crossed lover but it doesnít have to be.

***Basically it needs to be serious and have some romance in it.

*Please no harem series or pure comedies

I really enjoyed Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu, but I hated Toriaezu Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu

I probably should have mentioned that I'm not looking for anything that has had an anime adaptation. However, i did enjoy reading Spice and wolf.

Thanks for the suggestions, need more:

Cainam, from the description and the tags "Hakamori" look great I'm definitely going to read/buy it.

hman69, i couldnt find any information the tears project on that site, so could you elaborate or provide a direct link to it?

I'm still looking for more Light novels so any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure if i needed to mention this but i don't mind if its never been translated, because i am going to be getting/reading the RAWS anyways

this is a list of all of their teaser projects, 69 in total. These projects have a description and like one chapter at most translated, they have slim chances of getting a proper english translation anytime soon, so I think this is a good bet as you can read a bit to get an idea about wht its about

http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index.php?title=Category:Tease r_%28English%29

And on the left side of the page there is a panel of sorts, under Light Novels are all the Translated ones, they are not all complete aswell, so you can try those as well. There are some really awesome light novels in there, so i strongly recommend giving them a shot

NegalisticBLAST: Thanks for the suggestion i'm actually a fan of HASEKURA Isuna but this site only had information on "Magdala " the manga. So i didn't know there was a light novel version till now.

hman69: Thanks for clarifying, too bad it isn't categorized by genre.
Is there any chance you could suggest some that might be what I'm looking for? because there's about 200 series if you if you include the teasers and the light novel section. And most of the projects are exactly what I'm not looking for, but there are a few(so far) that might be what I'm looking for.

Kieli (Novel) - Yen press has translated the whole series. There is no romance listed but it should be. The romance is not the main focus of the whole story but some of the books due highlight on it a bit more then others.

Thanks Gale1 and OrchardPetalLullaby, Both "Rakuin no Monshou" and "Kieli" look very interesting.

I'm still hoping for at-least one more series before i go.

On a side note does anyone know who to talk to, to get a series added to this site?

I only read a few Japanese light novels, so can't really say too much about those. Of the very few I've read, I do believe Log Horizon is coming along with a romance subplot, then again you're not looking for Anime ones. I've only just started reading the Chinese version of Shiro no Koukoku Monogatari, probably gonna have romance in it from the looks of it. I don't feel like reading Japanese version, and I don't feel like emptying my wallet to buy the whole Chinese series, so you'll have to find out yourself. Alphapolis does have a manga adaption that's currently going on, one chap every month for free.

As for Chinese light novels, Yu Wo's has some good ones, but, most of them have a comedy feel. I don't think the other novels I'm reading are considered light novels, but Seba writes really good ones, especially her time-travel/historical and romance ones. Currently reading a new one called 蜂舞 by 貓邏. Waiting for delivery of the book, so can't say much from only the few chapters she has posted up online. I'm guessing it'll have romance though. It's about a girl, who happened to travel back in time, just before a major VRMMMO got released. http://paradise.ezla.com.tw is pretty much heaven for light novels. Nothing too much to say about that, since there's so many of them. 白夜 is a very well known author on there and a very good one too on there, would recommend any of her novels anytime. Other than that... well... I have dozens that I'm reading, can't really point one out right now.

Oh and, to add a series, go to User CP. There should be a link that says Add Series or something. Adding novels tend to be a troublesome process though, I got rejected twice for no apparent reason, despite all of the authors other novels being already on the site. Even ones that don't have an adaption...

EDIT: WOOPS, I totally missed that part about you going to Japan. Forget all that then. Silly me lol.
