Does this two series take place in the same world?

Same world, same country. Some years (10+?) apart, being SAO in the past.

No. Not direct sequel. Just takes place in the same world.

I see, they just take place in the same world. Does the cast from SAO make appearances or is at least mentioned in Accel World?

Wait huh!? Since when? At most there was one crossover or am I missing out on something? o.O

But to answer your question, I do believe SAO and AW has NOTHING to do with each other. But there's one crossover I forgot from which novel, that has Kirito crossover to AW. Takes place sometime between GGO and Alicization arc. Doesn't show for AW time. Other than that, they got NOTHING at all to do with each other. Perhaps the sequel thing comes from the crossover?

Or at least... as far as I can tell. I've only read SAO and watched Accel World, at most skimming through the novel version of AW. Plus some crossover fanfics lol. Sorry, someone correct me if I'm wrong! Would love to see it if SAO is actually mentioned in AW.

The tech used in Accel world is an improved version of SAO... what happends with the tech in Accel world is in part one of kirito's Goals.

In accel world they talk only about the past tech used in SAO. So far aside from the event where those gamers were captured and the nervgear or whatever the name of the stuff they used for the game, nothing more from SAO is seen in ACCEL world.

Only one thing is for sure Accel World is SAO in the future, they havent talked yet about the MC father only that he was a womanizer and that he worked with his mother in tech stuff. i believe author leaves stuff like that so people can hope they will be future cameos of SAO chars.

Do you think SAO and Accel World are going to end soon?
