Hello, I hope this time my request is easier to answer.

So I am looking for a story that has a character that had their whole life destroyed through possibly their whole tribe, town, village, family, etc being killed/destroyed/captured. It is a must that the character is taken captive and possibly sold, used, gotten rid of, thought dead, set free, escape, or almost killed.
- It'd be a plus if the person taken captive was of a high standing such as royalty, a highly regarded scholar, a village leader, or any other "indispensable" people.
- I'd also like it if the person was considered harmful, a curse, or just plain despised by his own people.
- It'd be sad if the person taken captive was killed or died but as long as the person was seen enough times to leave a reaction on the readers then it's okay with me.
- It'd love it if it was fantasy but this is not a must for me.

Some examples that I can think of at the moment include:
Red River -
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Urhi was a member of the royal family in his nation but then it was destroyed and he was taken captive and later purchased to serve in the seraglio temple.

Fushigi Yuugi -
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Nakago was a member of a tribe that was destroyed by Kutou/Qu-Dong and he was taken captive by them.

Genre doesn't matter to me since I read a lot of different genres. I'd be happy to take any recommendations regardless of what genre or categories are included as long as it has something to do with what I've described above.

Sorry for asking for so much and thanks!

In Apocalypse no Toride, one of the main characters (not protagonist) is like that. It is shown in a flashback, but a bit late in the story so not sure if it's worth it to read it just for that.

Jormungand The protagonist fits what you want too.

I think something like that happens to Angel Heart's MC too during her childhood, though I don't remember very well.

Honestly, I kept running into Apocalypse no Toride a lot and I was debating on starting it. You probably just gave me another reason to read it. I'll take a look at the others. Thanks!

It was on my wish list but now I'll definitely read it faster then I would have otherwise. Thanks!

Akame ga Kill! has elements of this. The protagonist is captured by the enemy faction in one mini-arc but the circumstances of the capture aren't necessarily tragic. In fact it was almost comedic although certainly dangerous for the hero. He does have a tragic background though, including a rather graphic scene involving his childhood friends.

i dont know if you read novels but Rakuin no Monshou (Novel) is exactly like this. the MC is the only survivor after his whole village is destroyed, then after that he gets sold as a sword slave.

also 07 Ghost would fit too though its kind of a spoiler. the whole manga is about him finding out about his past and this did happen to him.

You guys are awesome! Thanks!

shade449: Akame ga Kill! is not exactly what I am looking for but I might still take a look at it thanks to your description where as otherwise I never would have even bothered with it based on the way it is described in it's description.

Ryan POTLOT: Arslan Senki (ARAKAWA Hiromu) was always on the back of my mind to read eventually but now that I've refreshed my memory on what it's about I'm gonna start to read it. As for the others l will probably read a bit of them and see if I like them.

Gale1: Rakuin no Monshou (Novel) sounds exactly like what I want. I love novels and the like. I literally read anything that interests me. It was on my wish list but thanks to your description I'll start reading it within the week. Even though I have heard of 07 Ghost I don't think I ever knew what it was about. I've never read it and I honestly don't think I ever would have so I'm definitely gonna read it now.

If you don't mind trying a light novel, you must try Madan no Ou to Vanadis !

Madan no Ou to Vanadis sounds pretty good. I like the fact that the protagonist is an archer. I read light novels so it's all good. If I like the light novel I might try it's manga version too. Thanks!

Sorry its so long lol, I kept finding more...

Historical/Historical fantasy:
Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago-The first one I thought of, its by Shinohara Chie who did Red River, which you already mentioned. The plot you described, minus the hated part, is what happens to the mc in the beginning of the manga.
Oldman-Backstory, but I don't think they explain if they killed anyone else. All I know for definite is that her side lost and she was captured. Only one chapter out atm.
Basara-Its a recurring theme throughout the manga, and starts with the mc's village.
Saver-Its also a recurring theme, but can't really pin it down to this or that village. Happens to one person in particular which affected the mc.
Choukakou-its a backstory to one of the characters and something similar happens to the mc. The other character isn't a vip, but the mc is royalty.
Pharaoh no Haka-Happens to the two mc's. Plus it ticks your royalty box.
Agrippa-'he rescues the 11-year-old Taranis, the only son of a Gallic hero who was executed by the Romans.'
Harukoma, which seems to be part of Gunjou Gakusha but I'm not sure...There's a coup and the princess is the only one left alive, but she gets captured.
Izayakaku-Most people in his clan are killed, but they pardon him and exile him to a small island, keeping tabs on him.
The descendant of the dynasty-king massacred and one daughter is taken by the enemy, though as a daughter, not a prisoner.
Shut hell-
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The mc's town is massacred but she isn't captured right away, she travels a bit first, eventually captured mid-manga.

Shounen/shoujo fantasy:
Shuna no tabi-Two of the mc's are princesses sold into slavery.(Made by Hayao Miyazaki)
Kagerou nostalgia-Happens in a flashback fairly early on.
Olimpos-'Ganymede, a beautiful prince who was torn away from his family by the gods’ divine hands. Granted immortality, Ganymede now whiles away his days in an inescapable miniature garden.'
Gakuen Alice-It looks cute and cuddly but it gets surprisingly dark and depressing. The two mc's have various parts of your request in their past and throughout the course of the manga. Not quite in a lump though.
One piece-Its a recurring theme in flashback stories, not always your scenario exactly but one crew member's past in particular was like that and another ticks almost all your boxes but one. They include being despised too.

Dark fantasy/supernatural/horror:
Owari no seraph-A virus kills most adults on earth, then vampires enslave the children as living blood donors.
Demon flowers-That scenario happens to the mc as a kid, then again later on when the people they've been hiding from find them. Its shounen ai though, as a warning.
Guin saga-Parents murdered, and they almost get captured but are rescued just in time.
Jyu-oh-sei- 'Twin Brothers Thor and Rai, the sons of murdered parents are sent to prison star Kimera.'

I've read quite a few of the ones you've mentioned and had some others wish listed. As for the rest:

Harukoma - I had read it but never remembered it so it was a good reminder.

Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago - Wow I haven't read this one yet! I've read a lot of this mangaka's work but not this one yet.

I think I'll stay away from The Descendant of the Dynasty since I've been getting annoyed with HWANG Mi-Ri's stories for awhile now. I might go and read this one eventually though.

Agrippa, Pharaoh no Haka, and Guin Saga look like they haven't been scanlated in a while so I'm not gonna read them just yet.

Izayakaku, Shut Hell, Shuna no Tabi, Kagerou Nostalgia, Olimpos, and Demon Flowers make great additions to my wish list. I'll make time to read them.

Thanks for the huge list!

Kubera maybe?? she isn't taken "captive", but the mangirl who finds/saves her definitely uses her, even tries to kill her later on. It is fantasy.

Well, it still is kind of in the realm of what I'm looking for plus it sounds interesting. Kubera is definitely wish listed as of now! Thanks!
