I never thought I'd be into glasses-wearing boys in manga, but all of a sudden I was struck by how charming they are.

I'm looking for is a boy who isn't prince-like. Maybe he's a sadist, or he's all stoic and serious, or maybe he's just awkward. But I'd like to read about a guy who isn't every girl's idol.

Two oneshots that pushed me into wanting this: Gekou Jikoku Made Ato Go Fun and story three in Sugars (Yamamori Mika). (I'm particularly impressed with this one's character design for just a shoujo oneshot.)

Off the top of my head, I've read some of Inugami-san to Sarutobi-kun wa Naka ga Warui. It's alright, but so far I don't know if there's anything I like about the characters. Kyoya, from the famous Ouran High School Host Club, could be sadistic (insofar as shoujo goes) and he had other character traits. But he did have that 'prince' atmosphere. Eh.... Feel free to recommend me what you like.

Sorry my lists are down; I'm open to genre diversity, though I don't do yaoi or hentai. Some sort of romance, too, would be ideal.

Tonari no Megane-kun - While there are girls that like him, he's kind of a clumsy guy.

Maybes:

Sakamoto Desu ga? - He's actually everyone's idol. But it takes things to a ridiculous level how cool he is.
Ani ga Imouto de Imouto ga Ani de. - This has a body swap theme. The guy in his original body is an air-headed siscon, while the girl in the guy's body is rather forceful.

The meganekko tag might be worth a look.

These are the only ones I can think of:

Me-Teru no Kimochi - Seinen about a guy who locks himself in his room. You could not find anyone LESS princely than this character.

Desire Climax - Shoujo. I didn't like this manga, but everyone has different tastes. Guy is regarded as a prince but is secretly a sadist. Girl is weak and annoying.

Hot Gimmick - Shoujo. I got through one or two chapters before dropping. Guy is a sadist, girl is weak and annoying.

Sakamoto is definitely princely, but he's so overdone that I love his character. He's far from the clichés I was worried about getting. And I've never read most of these, even the well-known ones like Hot Gimmick, so I've been enjoying the new suggestions.

Maybe Kimi to Scandal! The male lead is, literally an idol, but... his cool facade drops when wearing glasses. Not sure if that's enough "not prince-like" for you though.

Soredemo Boku wa Kimi ga Suki - this will probably work well for you. The first chapter was just scanlated and it looks promising for what you have described since the glasses wearing mc is really awkward in certain situations and easily influenced for awhile, that's what you see in the first chapter anyway.
