I am looking for a manga with romance and an emotional and somehow "girly" male lead (not the looks but the behavior in a relationship).

Let me be crystal clear: I am NOT looking for a MC who crossdresses, is metrosexual, or is mistaken for a girl. I don't want any gender bender, BL, yaoi or hentai. However I don't mind some sex scene as long as it's more erotism than pornography. Oh and please don't bother suggesting manga that ends with a confession, it has to keep going after that.

What I am looking for is a male lead who does things like putting his head on the girl laps, reacts emotionnaly and sometimes needs to be comforted and/or protected.

I don't care if the girl is tomboyish or not, if the male lead is strong or not.

Basically I'm a bit tired of the stereotypical relationship in which the guy is very manly, always care for the feelings of the girl who doesn't seem to care that much about those of the guy.

I don't really have an example in mind but it's usually easier to find those characters in a BL manga since they often feature more feminin male characters though that's not what I am looking for.

I realise I may be asking for something that doesn't even exist so if you got a suggestion that matches only some criteria just write in what way it differs to what I am asking and I'll probably consider it anyway.

Witchcraft Works, where it's okay for the guy to be protected (and sometimes too cute for words) and the girl to be overbearing and stalkerish. Actually, I think most of their interactions are conscious reversals of common shoujo and shounen tropes.

Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. Haru is good at and quick to resort to fighting, but he is emotional and more dependent on Shizuku. He has commented that she is always the one saving him (and she is), and the only time he bursts onto a scene to rescue her, she is perfectly fine by herself and he ends up accidentally hitting her in the face instead.

Inu x Boku SS. It's a very unique relationship. On the surface he's the most submissive, caring, fussy servant ever, but he's actually very emotionally demanding when he acts like a lost puppy when she leaves him alone for a second.

Noragami. Yato thinks of Hyori as a goddess who rescues him from evil, even though he's the (minor) god and she's a human. And she actually always does, because she is almost impossibly perceptive and caring (while he is silly and childish and clingy).

Fujoshi Kanojo. People say Taiga is too good for Yuiko -- not true. He's merely more comfortable being submissive than most guys ("moe uke" lol) while she's quite quirky and sadistic. They both have cute moments when they take account of the other's feelings and put a lot of effort into the relationship.

Confession happens early on for most of the above, except for WCW and Noragami which are shounen/seinen so may be confession never.

Gantz - Seinen battle manga with quite a strong romantic component. There's a fair amount of fan service but I recall it being mainly on the chapter intro pages.

Me-Teru No Kimochi - Guy who locks himself in his room, by same mangaka as Gantz. Probably anything by this mangaka is worth a look, since he seems to like emotional male protagonists.

Koi Kaze - Seinen. About a brother and sister.

Sugar Family - Shoujo. Guy is silly. This might end too soon for your taste.

I think most of my suggestions might fall into "sweet" guy rather than a "maiden in love" type guy.

Tonari no Megane-kun - Mostly a slice of life of two people getting along. Very sweet.

Otokonoko ni Toriko (one-shot) - The guy is a bit hot-blooded and says some thoughtless things sometimes (which some may not like), but the girl is so unflustered about everything, it's great. One reviewer said the guy was "an uke in a shoujo manga," lol.

3D Kanojo - Surprisingly a sweet guy. Does fall into the learned helplessness trap on occasion.

Liar x Liar - He's actually quite the standard "shoujo" hero (popular, attractive etc), but he ends up really emotionally dependent on the heroine. (I like this theme... heh)
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
When she tries to break it off with him, he falls apart and stops taking care of himself.

You could give kind male lead a try.
