Short story:
I'm looking for an action adventure anime that is complete (meaning it doesn't end halfway through). I also want it to have some decent romance.

Long story:
Recently I got back to watching anime, watched Hitsugime no Chaika and Blood Lad and liked both a lot (though I wouldn't mind some more romance in them). But it bothers me that the anime didn't have a proper ending. In other words they ended way too soon and it's going to take some time before a sequels comes out (and it might not cover the whole source material from start to finish either, not to mention that the source material is ongoing). Hence I'm looking for something complete.

Other:
The series doesn't have to be super long, a movie will do too. On a side note, I'm NOT a fan of male abuse (meaning guy being abused by girl\s), so I wouldn't mind if that can be kept to minimum.

P.S. Yes, I have seen Fullmetal Alchemist already.

Kiss Dum: Engage Planet (Make sure it's the DVD/BD version you're gonna watch. Lots of problems with the TV-version...)
Uchuu no Stellvia
Fractale (Less action)
Bounen no Xamdou (More action, less romance)
Eureka Seven (Awesome. Sequel is worse, but is still watchable)
Space Battleship Yamato 2199

You should check this site : http://www.anime-source.com/banzai/
It's kinda similar to myanimelist, but it has a Top50 anime by year which is usually spot on for me. A good tool to discover anime that might interest you.
Here are the links for 2013 :
50-26 : http://www.anime-source.com/banzai/modules.php?name=Content& pa=showpage&pid=1457
25-11 : http://www.anime-source.com/banzai/modules.php?name=Content& pa=showpage&pid=1458
10-1 : http://www.anime-source.com/banzai/modules.php?name=Content& pa=showpage&pid=1459

Some recs on action animes with a good dose of romance :
Summer Wars : Movie
Eden of The East + various sequels
Kokoro Connect I haven't watched it to the end so not sure if it's "complete" but I think so, more mystery than action though
Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai
Suisei no Gargantia
Library War the Movie Better than the TV series IMO
Kyoukai no Kanata

From this year you could try Noragami or Witch Craft Works

I second Eureka Seven. It's got such a unique plot, though you don't really find out the extent of it until the second season.

one of my recent favorite movies was Sakasama no Patema - http://myanimelist.net/anime/12477/Sakasama_no_Patema
its got pretty much everything you want, action, adventure, a cute romance, good characters, and an amazing and very unique plot

as for series maybe Angel Beats -http://myanimelist.net/anime/6547/Angel_Beats!

If you liked Hitsugi no Chaika, I would recommend checking out the author's earlier work Scrapped Princess, if you haven't already. They have very similar premises, and even though I also enjoyed Chaika a lot, I do think that Scrapped Princess is the superior work.

I've also recently been rewatching The Third, and it fits the request of an "action adventure romance anime" to a T. It starts off a bit slowly, but it definitely picks up after a while.

You could also try Last Exile (and its sequel) if you haven't already, though neither series has that much (reciprocated) romance. Last Exile also starts off relatively slow, though it picks up after episode three.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I've already seen a number of those series (my anime list is here), namely:
- Eureka Seven
- Scrapped Princess (I think Hitsugi no Chaika had more cliche content which would explain why it was weaker than Scrapped Princess, though it still was a good series)

- Eden of the East
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The end of the series was a little bit disappointing in terms of romance though.

- Last Exile
- Sakasama no Patema (was quite good, but the writing could have been better)
- Angel Beats (and loved every minute of it)

I haven't seen any of the Bones sequel to the series mentioned above (I had awful experience with Darker Than Black's sequel), but as far as I'm concerned, Eureka Seven and Last Exile were complete series.

I guess I could finish up watching Gargantia (I've seen most of the middle episodes, but for some reason not the first and last few).

Anyway, some of the series that I've seen recommended here don't fit my complete criteria. Since I was (and still am) fan of the Witch Craft Works manga, I've already seen the anime adaptation (it was really well made), but the is definitely not complete (the manga is still ongoing so it's not surprising).
