You are sitting on a desk next to the window, that is two stories high, in a certain high school, its the middle of class, and you looked outside, and see someone in front of the school gates. The gates are closed during class periods, and the student outside cannot get inside the front gate. The student then began to climb over the gate, rather clumsily. But when the student jumped off the gate, as soon as his/her feet touch the ground, everything began to shake. The impact felt like a wrecking ball got loose from its chain, while hanging several meters from the ground. You saw that the student is now standing in a meter, and foot deep crater, but the student seems unharmed. The student simply grabbed her bag, that she slipped between the gate, and was in the process of entering the school, until an instructor quickly approached her with an angry expression on his face. You are in the middle of processing the scene that transpired before you...

Another story I'm working on that has this scenario. But I'm not sure if this is a good opener for a supernatural themed story...

I'm not a believer in supernatural stuff, so I wouldn't make any connection to the person. I would think that it was some kind of bomb or seismic phenomenon or something and wonder whether it was safe to stay in the school.

While I think it's an interesting premise for a story, I'm not sure that it's such a good opening - depends on whether everyone knows the student's secret or not. If no, and she doesn't want anyone to find out, I think that she would be more likely to just call in sick than jump over the wall while knowing what would happen. I think that you should give her a stronger motivation for exposing herself than missing a day of school.
