No.

I would also consider a vegetarian a hypocrite for eating animal crackers.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.

I've seen some superhero-themed piñata... so it's superhero abuse too! Don't discriminate.

I had never heard about piñatas since I have never seen once in my life. I went looking for what they are and I don't consider them "animal abuse". They are fake and too ridiculous to resemble a real animal. Even if children wanted to hit a real animal to get candies, their potential victim wouldn't be so stupid to let them do it. I saw that some piñatas resemble horses: a child trying to hit one of these giants would have a very bad moment.
(here in Italy we have "pignatte", which are basically the same thing, but I don't think they are animal-shaped).

Of course it's not animal abuse. Don't you know all piñatas want to get hit, well most of them. It's all in the song. (Great now I want to play that game on the 360)

But really hitting something that is an inanimate object that happens to look like a living creature isn't animal abuse. That's like ... (analogy I wanted to use is too dirty ... *cough* ) saying throwing a barbie doll down the stairs is like attempted murder.
For anyone wondering what I wanted to say that was too dirty
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Something about a blow up doll ...

Perfect analogy.
I'm sorry but this thread has got to be the dumbest thread I have wondered into in quite some time.

A pinata can be shaped like just about anything the creator can put the paper into, and most of them don't even resemble a living thing.
Pinatas are made to be destroyed, just like vegetables are grown to be eaten.

You monster! Vegetables have feelings too!

I wonder what Buzz Lightyear might have to say about this...

Though back in this reality, yeah, the OP is pretty damn ridiculous.

Unless there is an animal inside...

I hate to necro this COMPLETELY asinine thread, but I must.

This is too funny for me. BaeSooky, I meant to reply when you made this post, but I... I dunno, I didn't. Why? Well, there's a reason I guess, but whatever... point is, your post is hilarious, I can't let it pass me up a second time, and I apologize for this ridiculously late reply.

I'm currently reviewing my posts and happened to run across this thread. I forgot about it, really, and while reviewing, I narcissistically had a laugh at my own post. BUT! I sllloooowwwly started to remember the thread, and then I saw your post which immediately made me burst into a hysterical laughing fit. Like, tears and everything, just like when I read it the first time.

Mostly because I totally imagine a scenario where this bumbling parent wants to give his or her kid a puppy as a gift, but does it in the WORST way imaginable? I dunno... It's such an obvious joke that I'd have never thought of it, so it kills me every time I see it.

LMFAO. This topic. ._.

Anyways, no. It's not animal abuse to me. It's made of cardboard, tissue paper, and staples. So more like material abuse? I've seen some awful looking pinatas... And I think to myself, "Who thought that was gonna be a good idea?"

Think about the Pin the tail on the Donkey...
First you cut off its tail, then you try to pin it back on.
Oh the horror! eek

But what if the piñata gains sentient life? Wouldn´t it be highly xenophobic of us to just label it as an animal. This is so existential you guys!
What sort of animal would best fit into a piñata bwt.?

Remember the time when Greenpeace tried to save the digital whales from Ubisoft Assassins? If not then read this: http://giantbomb.com/assassin-s-creed-iv-black-flag/3030-41518/ forums/peta-upset-over-ac4-glorifying-whaling-1427763/ eek
