Looking for some "dark" fairy tales with happy endings!

Bonus points if it's not shoujo or josei biggrin

Also, I read a shoujo a few months ago, which I would categorize as such, but have since forgotten its name. Maybe someone knows which one it is? Basically the story goes like this: A girl goes to live with her "uncle" in some city where it's always night time(I think). And each citizen has to carry a light when they go outside, otherwise they're attacked by dark "demons" who consume their souls or whatever. But one day, the girl forgets bringing her light, or if she drops it, or whatever, and she meets one of those "demons". But instead of consuming her, he decides to protect her or something. And basically they fall in love?

Thanks, for any help finding that manga, and for any recommendations!

There's a light novel that reminds me of the manga you're looking for, so you might like reading it. It's Mimizuku to Yoru no Ou (Novel) smile

Most of the one shots that ran in the special "Aka" and "Kuro" issues of Lala magazine have various dark/fairy tale/horror/romance elements mixed in. I'd say check out the story descriptions and see if any catch your fancy smile

Ah, Lost Seven, I actually started reading that one, but then forgot about I started reading it, heh bigrazz Too many manga "laying" around, I'll pick it up again, thanks :-)

Ludwig Kakumei, EEEK! female corpses... sounds too creepy for me bigrazz (might take a peek tho)

I'll check out that light novel, however, I'm skeptical... I've been trying the last month to read a few light novels, however I find most of them rather "flat", dunno if it's the writing style or translation, hmm... or maybe it's just me :X

I'm not much into one shots, they're too short. It's like getting a teaser, without the meat...err.. I mean, it's like, you read it, and like it, and then it's over, and you're like, no wait, I want more!

Thank you for the recommendations!

I think the shoujo you're looking for is LLLL.

For the fairy tales...
Arcana 16
Blind Märchen
Chijou wa Pocket no Naka no Niwa
Chronicles of the Grim Peddler
Snow in the Dark

Not sure if all of these have happy endings, though. Not all of them are necessarily "dark" either.

You should definitely check out Ludwig Kakumei. The author never again returns to those corpses and in my humble opinion it is just a a dropped plot. Other then that, you ain't gonna get closer to traditional fairy tales with a crazy plot twist.
