Like the title suggests. And by unsociable, I don't necessarily mean reclusive or completely unfeeling. Just, hmm... a little aloof and grumpy, maybe. Protagonist must be confident, competent.

Some romance might be nice, but it's not a requirement. Oneshots are fine, but I don't really want to read a long series.

No smut/ecchi/yuri please. Shoujo-ai is okay.

Thanks for your help smile

Teppuu!!!!!!!! Awesome manga. edit: it's on your list. Sigh.

Yuri is yuri and shoujo-ai is pretty much a defunct term.

Teppu
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
A Lollipop or a Bullet
Pieta
The Tarot Cafe

Not the protagonist but I believe she's the actual main character: Witchcraft Works.

Really? I didn't know that. I always thought that there was a distinction, lol. In any case, yuri is fine but I avoid sexually explicit content, so. Also, Teppuu is indeed excellent, but Natsuo is more extreme(?) than what I'm looking for. She's pretty sadistic. But thanks anyway! smile

I've actually read most of these, haha. But I'll definitely be starting A Lollipop or a Bullet. And I've been meaning to give Witchcraft Works a try too. Thanks!

you could try Song of the Long March, it has the type of protagonist you want but i don't know about your tastes. so far there has not been any romance and its a pretty serious manga.

Maybe Gokuraku Seishun Hockey Bu, Ouran High School Host Club. Maybe River's Edge, but this protagonist might seem unfeeling - the general theme of the story is ennui.

@Gale1 I'm already reading it, but thanks! It's one of my current favourites. Chang Ge is awesome.

@hkanz I dropped Hockey Bu, but yeah, a protagonist like that is what I'm looking for. I'll be sure to try River's Edge. It looks interesting. Thanks!

@yamaken-dono Yup, haha. I'm already reading Six Half too, actually. But I'll put Bloody Cross on my list. All your recs are great. Thanks smile

@whitespade Lots of recommendations that I haven't read yet! Thanks. I'll put them on my list.
