Everything feels so forced. The enemies are all really boring, just simply evil for the sake of evil. Plus I'm not sure what a "rope shield" has to do with creating some shock-wave-shield thing.

Like the manga so far, though mostly for the main character. As wotonito said, the enemies are a tad weird. But I've started reading the novel and it's actually quite different or rather a lot was left out. Definitely going to follow both the manga and novel.

Pretty much this. It's like everyone is a dick for the sake of being a dick, or maybe they are a part some kind of a asshole-hivemind.

Either way the MC has a share of his own problems. Isn't he supposed to be out for revenge? Instead he is playing the role of a bitter goody-two-shoes who tries to be a hero even though it's obvious he's going to be obstructed in every possible way by the asshole-hivemind (case in point ch.7 and that time he rescues the Knights). It's such a roundabout way to the objective. "Revenge 101" clearly says that he should cheat, lie, steal and kill while he slowly undermines his enemies before finally putting them out of their misery. You aren't supposed to help them, you tool!

Also, when the whole world is against you you don't play by it's rules, you do the exact opposite, you use every possible exploit you can find.

The way Naofumi is going about it is right. You would understand after meeting people like that once or twice but lying and cheating will only give them ammunition. Understand that it is a conspiracy. Therefore, they cannot explain to Naofumi why they are acting like this nor can he undermine them by cheating. Major spoilers ahead by the way.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)

The one behind much of this is Mein, who is the first princess.

The king is blinded by his sheer racism toward the halfs or whatever but he was originally one of the heroes (3 come from their world and 4 from others), is respected or it and has the most authority while the queen (they're matriarchal) is out pacifying the other nations run by the halfs over the all the stupid shit her husband does.

The nobles go along with the king to kiss his ass. No one there is stupid, with the exception of the sword hero and the spear hero. They ALL know what is going on. If Naofumi tried the same shit they would call him out on it. They are ACTIVELY lying and denying what is happening while spreading rumors. This is part of kissing the kings ass.

Then comes Mein, who capitalizes on all of this. She plays the role of a nice girl who tries to help the shield hero but is betrayed. She knows that her father and all the nobles following him will buy into it. They just wanted an excuse. She then runs to the spear hero so he can play captain save a hoe since he's both dumb and only interested in women. She'll then squander the countries reserves to buy his favor while she earns fame as someone who help the heroes save the country. Then she'll marry the hero like her mother did, and take her place.

The regular people have nothing to do with this. The best thing for Naofumi to do is to actively protect them and let them watch as he saves their lives increasing his fame and exposing the incompetence of the other heroes and nobility who left them to die.

I loved it from the start. I just had to read every chapter available.
I consider that Naofumi would be better off becoming a villain. It just pains me to see all the bullying done to him, and him not standing up. -___-

Seriously, never in my life have I deeply hated so many characters at once. >__<
I just hope that at some time, Naofumi doesn't protect any of the other heroes or Mien. >__>

Another generic shonen series about an avatar potagonist stumbeling into Dragon Quest and so on. "I am to old for this shit." 6/10.
Re: Monster though is more intersting that i first thought. That one is on my list.

I don't know what you're talking about exactly. Sure, the first chapter makes the whole series look like a typically generic shounen series like you described it, but from chapter two and onward, things change drastically:
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
The protagonist is made an outcast by his (supposed) comrades that are all meant to save the fantasy world, and his "weapon" of all things is a shield, with only the given purpose of protecting/supporting his comrades in battle. That said, you got to give him credit for being innovative while also hated by others throughout the story. Maybe it's not as unique as Re: Monster, but there's no way it's completely generic.
