No, but I played its predecessor, Chrono Trigger and loved it.

There was a Japan-Only release of some game that is sort-of the in between story of Chrono Cross and Chrono Trigger. Does anyone remember the name of it?

I have always wanted to play it beacuse I had played chrono trigger on snes but I didnt have the console. It was like the unreachable grapes on the fable of the fox (for those that dont get the reference). Finally a couple years back I had a good enough pc to play it on an emulator. I know it's not the same but it was good and very interesting. The way the plot thickened as well the loose reference to the story of chrono trigger and it's story. The one thing that I found both con and pro is the great variety of characters that you can choose. Pro because, well you have a huge variety of characters to choose biggrin each with their own story (most of the time pretty interesting) and each creating alternate paths (with big or no difference) in the story with extra scenes sometimes. Con because, well you have a huge variety of characters to choose biggrin and you might get a little overwhelmed, and because I for one want to see all of them , read their stories and try all the possibles plots

Huff huff... I have never wrote something in such speed.

Anyway if you cant buy it and play it again (because it doesnt sell anywhere near you or because you dont want to pay for it again I suggest an emulator, although if it were me I would buy it again from the internet. The again as you already realized probably I am biased and a very big fan of the chrono series. Something like those who follow the ff series.

To Calliber: Radical Dreamers. Also on an emulator (The only english release as far as I know).

yah i played it when it first came out. its funny cuz its actually sitting in my "to play again eventually pile" (along with star ocean 2)...

personally, i thought it was a great game. for the time the graphics were gorgeous. the story is deep and engrossing (even some of the side characters stories were somehow linked together and the ones that didnt had their own unique story behind them). the battle system is quite innovative (i dont think there is another system like it) it takes some getting used to but its not that bad. the only tiny problem i had with the game was the fact that there were just simply too many playable characters in it. it had a radiata stories feel in that it kinda felt overloaded by the time you were done getting all of them.

i didnt want to waste another post with just a one word reply..

yah i did beat it

Kidd, Glen, and Serge. Those three were my favorite and I always had them in my party...well Serge was there for obvious reasons, but he still rocked.

Beeing the rpg freak I am, this jewel couldn`t have escaped
my grasp...
I got to say, this game, along with xenogears are two of the best
rpg`s ever, and they never got the attention they deserved.
I played it to death and finished it in a few days, and then twice
more in a month(it has great replay value due to the many secret caracters
and extras).
I`m really glad at least some people know what a good game it is biggrin

Edit: Oh almost forgot, anyone remembers that final video after the credits?
it`s got to be one of the best endings ever ...
Spoiler (highlight to view)
The one with the girl wandering around with a pendant (looking for serge through every parallel world as far as i understood)

you can see it here if you want, the part im talking about starts at the 5th minute.

It`s unfortunate but you probably got the worst ending, which is ..... nothing as it looks
like biggrin

Yeah, great game. I think I prefer Trigger better though (need to play Cross again to be sure) if only because it left a bigger impression on me (I can remember Trigger more easily).

Fav chars: Harle, Kid, Miki, Riddel, Steena (all not very useful, but I liked the way they looked).

Here's a link for images: http://www.rpgclassics.com/shrines/psx/cc/characters.shtml

Serge/Lynx was probably the best character (concerning strength and usefulness), but that's sort of a given.
