Dear Updaters,

I am in need desperate of your assistance. I just read Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san and absolutely loved it. I NEED MORE! This is a bit vague but if anyone has some suggestions similar to this with a simple, innocent romance vibe to it that just makes you smile like an idiot the whole time you're reading it, I would be quite grateful. For further clarification, 14-sai no Koi is another example of a story that does this. The main story is quite good BUT!!!! I ADORE everything involving Nagai and Hinohara. Something about a romance where the girl teases the boy just does it for me, especially when the boy is all like "I hate her so much, but i cant stay away." Some other manga like this that come to mind are Usotsuki Paradox Femme Fatale and Last Game. Hopefully, this gives you an idea of what I'm after.

Anyway I'd really love a sappy, cliched romance where the girl teases the boy, and the boy begrudgingly develops affection along the way. BUT the amount of romance manga that piques my interest recently has become scarce, SO also refer any romance series that you adore; any manga that makes you think "Mmmm... Delicious" while reading, is worth my time.

Im not too picky so shounen/shoujo are fine but i'd prefer seinen/josei. The only limitation is no yaoi. I... I just... can't do it, and I know it has everything I want but... I just cant... I'm sorry. Everything else is fair game.

Bonus points to anyone who recommends anything with an interesting art style
Double Bonus points if the girl is older
AND TRIPLE SUPER DOUBLE POINTS for any moments like this...
page26-30

AND THIS THIS THIS!!!!!

I appreciate any help I can get! Thanks Updaters!

Sincerely,
CMB

Welcome to the forums. I suppose you've looked up other works by the mangaka of your examples like Game Over (MIZUTANI Fuka) or Tsumetaku, Amai?

Some of AMAZUME Ryuta's stories should be right up your alley.
Puppy Lovers is an episodic slice-of-life romance. It focuses on an older mangaka girl who enjoys teasing a young violin prodigy whom she's fallen in love with. Needless to say that it is full of sexual tension.
The title of Toshiue no Hito says it all: A young college student tries to win the affections of an older woman and a sweet but slightly dramatic romance ensues. Closest series to Femme Fatale that comes to my mind off the top of my head.

You might also like Udon no Onna by Est Em. Another pairing that consists of a younger college student and an older woman, but this time their perspectives alternate throughout the story. Less teasing but more entertaining udon interaction.

Bonnouji by AKI Eda has somehow become a modern classic for this kind of age gap setting. Quirky slice of life with the right dash of romance.

How about HORIIZUMI Inko's Itoshi no Karin or NANAMI Mao's 3D Kanojo? The female leads may not be older but they definitely use their playfully seductive charms.

I almost forgot to mention Kanojo wa Sore o Gaman Dekinai (IWASHITA Shigeyuki). A proactive female teacher goes after her awkward loner student.

Recently, I've read a cute little oneshot that fits the bill. It's called Henshin Ganbo by NisiOisin/ MIYOKAWA Masaru. No age gap but everything else is there.

YAMASHITA Tomoko takes a more drastic approach in her oneshot Satanic Sweet. Oddly lovable in spite of its BDSM elements.

If you don't mind a gag version of this trope, check out IGARASHI Ran's Hoozuki-san Chi no Aneki. An older stepsister loves to tease and bully her lovestruck younger stepbrother. The original 4-koma is quite nice, its sequel, however, is heading into a questionable direction.

Thanks! My friend, you have hit SO many nails on the head.

First, yeah I've ready anything thats been scanlated by [Shigisawa Kaya] and [Mizutani Fuka], they are amazing and two of my favorite mangaka.

Next, Puppy Lovers is the smutty manga of my dreams, I love everything about it (except its release schedule). In fact, I almost included it in my post! Toshiue no Hito is also pretty high on my list of favorite manga. [Amazume Ryuta] knows what he's doing.

I have not read Udon no Onna, and am super excited to check it out. Its got that forbidden romance vibe going on, and I LOVE THAT.

Bonnouji is great, its more simple but has that feel good atmosphere that makes you smile, that I was looking for.

So I just read Itoshi no Karin, and it was great with that feel good atm as well, but I found myself really liking both of the main characters, much more so than in many of the other manga I've read. Definitely a spot on suggestion. I feel like I've read 3D Kanojo but I can't remember. The plot synopsis sounds really familiar but I don't recognize the art style or name.

HOW COULD YOU ALMOST FORGET!? Kanojo wa Sore o Gaman Dekinai is also one of my favourites. Its just a fantastically weird read, I would've included it in my post but it didn't fit in with the same style as the other series. Killer suggestion.

I haven't read either of those one shots but they both sound very interesting. NisiOisin is a god with Monogatari, and Katanagatari just so happens to my favorite anime, so its safe to say you've piqued my curiosity. And Satanic Sweet is right up my alley, I'll let you know what I think after I read them.

And Finally, gag type mangas are a little off-putting but that didn't stop me from reading Hoozuki-san Chi no Aneki, and loving every second of it! I did not know it had a sequel though, and it just so happens that “questionable” is my favourite direction, so ill be checking that out very soon.

Thanks for all of these suggestions, I really appreciate it. These are seriously some of the most enjoyable manga I've ever read so I applaud you for your incredible suggestion abilities. I'm really excited to read all of your suggestions that I haven't already read. (man that 's an ugly sentence)

Lastly, you've earned so many bonus points, I think its safe to say you won... the contest?

Haha, I didn't know there was a contest but I'll take the bonus points, anyway biggrin

Let's see if I can dig up something you haven't read yet. What about AKI Eda or SATOU Nanki? Have you tried their other works like Itou-san or Sex Nanka Kyouminai?

Otoyomegatari by MORI Kaoru
Not sure if I should suggest this one since it's more of a historical slice of life and less of a romance but nevermind that. The age gap and the stunning older beauty are there, and the heroine's behaviour is charming enough to turn her younger husband's head.

Maybe's Tasogare Otome x Amnesia
Nicely done supernatural romance. The older heroine is very affectionate towards the more reluctant male lead.

Nozoki Ana by HONNA Wakou
Heavy on the nudity and the sex, but the series has a sufficiently compelling storyline to make up for that. The heroine's teasing borders on the line to manipulation but if you don't mind that, go for it.

YOSHIDA Motoi's Natsu no Zenjitsu
A beautiful, mature gallery owner seduces a stoic art student. One scene even contains some female dominance. All in all a very sensual with an unsettling undercurrent.

Yawarakai Onna by TOMI Akihito
Breathtaking artwork and dynamic character interactions make this short-story collection stand out from the crowd. Box Seat and Kanojo to Kare should be especially to your liking.

If you liked the above mentioned collection, I'd suggest reading the short stories Pink Chocolate, White Fire and Albertina from IRIE Aki's anthology Gunjou Gakusha, too. I'm not saying that the others aren't good, far from it, but these three are closest to what you're looking for.

How about an amusing role reversal involving a part-time employee and her higher-up co-worker? I didn't like how generic the ending turned out, but the overall story in NAGAE Tomomi's Ikenai Candy Love is above average.

The following suggestions contain explicit material, so I've put them into spoiler tags (wouldn't want your thread to be moved to the Adult section):

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
Sensei o Mite Kudasai by FUUGA
Watch the bickering love between a young female teacher and one of her students unfold after a drunk one-night stand. Shows a lot of entertaining character dynamics.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
MARUTA's Hatsukoi no Oto
The sweetest version of friends becoming lovers that one can come across. Plus, the older girl's so cute, lush and a tad playful that it's a pleasure to follow their interactions.

I second all of -shiratori-'s suggestions. His group, Ciel Scans, has a lot of innocent love stories to offer.

Ok, so if you say you like Last Game then I'm pretty sure you can check:
Akagami no Shirayuki Hime
Horimiya
Ookami Heika no Hanayome
Shitsuji-sama no Okiniiri
Taiyou no Ie
Zettai Heiwa Daisakusen
Ouchi e Kaerou
These cute romances that make you smile and look like an idiot are definitely my favourite ^^

These are some great suggestions too! Ive been avoiding Ojojojo because of the 4-koma style but its growing on me so ill check that out.
Hatsukiai is exactly my speed, I started reading it immediately after I saw this post and its everything I ever wanted.

Ive read all the others but that doesnt mean I dont love them regardless! Especially Kokoro Kimiiro Sakurairo, I LOVE THIS MANGA, I just wish there was more of it.

HRGAHJEDEIUIWUEHDFWIUDHCED (please excuse my stroke) OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I read Sakurasaku Syndrome about a month ago, LOVED IT, and then forgot what it was called. Ive spent a ridiculous amount of time searching through different lists from advance searches of genres and different categories based on where I thought this series belonged in order to find it (google searches were not helping me out). I had just about given up hope on finding it, and then you show up like some BDH [url=http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BigDamnHeroes] swinging your big-old-fancy suggestion, saving the day. MFW it hasnt been updated since... [url=http://i.imgur.com/TX4ZJ.gif]

Thanks for the help Man/Chick/Person!

@Tripitaka
I didn't either but these bonus points have to go somewhere!

So clearly you pulled out all the stops, I've only read three of these: Tasogare Otome x Amnesia Nozoki Ana and [/spoiler Sensei o Mite Kudasai]
Again, all of which I love.
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia I read a long time ago, and then it was adapted into an anime like a week later. I was already having an awesome time with the manga and then BOOM I get it again in a totally new way. This series is attached to some pretty fond memories, which only makes me like it more. IN FACT, now I'm gonna read it again.
Nozoki Ana was amazing in a different way. Its everything I'm looking for, but to the extreme! I remember reading this and constantly thinking "but she... and he... how... what... why...?" EVERY CHAPTER! Quite the emotional rollercoaster.
And The last series was also one I really liked, one of the first NSFW series I ever read. I was somewhat disappointed while reading this but only because I had just read [spoiler Kyoushi to Seito to] by the same author and liked it so much more. A great read non-the-less.

Alright lets see...

I haven't read anything by [AKI Eda] but am loving his art style. And [SATOU Nanki] did Usotsuki Paradox so I'm already on board with that.

Ive known about both Otoyomegatari and Natsu no Zenjitsu for a while but could never bring myself to read them (I have no idea why), I guess I'll have to change that now.

Yawarakai Onna is completely new to me, but im currently reading Reiroukan Kenzai Nariya by the same author and liking it so I'll definitely check that out.

I find so many one shots and anthologies that I like, but reading them is always agony cuz they are just too short. But I guess I'm a masochist cuz im gonna keep reading them, starting with Gunjou Gakusha.

Im definitely not against role reversals, and seeing as it's earned your praise, Ikenai Candy Love is going on my To-Read-List.

And it looks like I'll be reading more NSFW manga seeing as its coming so highly rated from you; its going to the top of my To-Read-List!

I'll probably be kept busy for a while with all of these, thanks for all your help.

also now that you mention it, ive noticed most of these manga are scanlated by Ciel Scans, which makes finding new stuff to read much easier.

OH I almost forgot, I read all of your previous suggestions. Those two one shots where very entertaining. [Henshin Ganbou] was surprisingly fun despite how predictable it was. I wouldve been SO happy if it was stretched out into like 10 chapters so all those nice feels could be savored a bit more.
And Udon no Onna was quite the tasty little read. I havent finished the sequel to [Hoozuki-Chi no Aneki] but its everything I expected it to be, so that's been fun.

Thanks Again Hombre!

Edit: It would seem that I cant figure out how to use the spoiler tags

@Shourii
I've heard of Akagami no Shirayuki Hime and Ookami Heika no Hanayome but haven't read them yet. I'll get on that ASAP.

I've Read Horimiya Zettai Heiwa Daisakusen and Taiyou no Ie; loved them. Especially Zettai Heiwa Daisakusen SO CUTE!

And Ive never heard of Shitsuji-sama no Okiniiri or Ouchi e Kaerou but both sound interesting and the latter looks to be exactly my cup of tea.

Thanks for the suggestions!

@Lorska
Everything recommended so far has been pretty amazing, I also only read romance... for the most part. So once I work my way through all of the recommendations thus far, ill start to pick my way through your list. I see a lot of series I haven't read yet, so I don't think ill need to return to the forums for a while. Thanks for you help, this was exactly what I needed.

Just remembered another collection of one-shots you might like:

Ai de Asobu. by NINOMIYA Hikaru
Tasty short stories with a twist. The artwork reminded me of SHIGISAWA Kaya's art style.

Regarding the tags, the easiest way would be to take a look at the FAQ: In a forum post, how do I quickly link to a series, mangaka, or scanlation group?
