ok, the title gotten a bit weird

So, I always wanted to read a story in which the protagonist have to deal with powerful/supernatural/something-like-that phenomenon or people, but don't have superpowers him/herself, so they have to make up for it using their cleverness and own resources and such.

An example is OhGreat's Majin Devil, in which the main character fight supernatural creatures using his intelligence and physics (ok, his superintelligence could be accepted as a superpower itself, but it's still counting).

An counter-example is Break Blade, in which the main character is the only person (or one of few) who doesn't have magic in a world where everyone have. But this 'don't have magic' thing end up being his own 'power' since it makes he the only person who can control an extraordinary machine (or something). So it doesn't count.

In short, character with no power who have to make up for it using other resources: yes;
character with no power, but that lack of power end up being the power itself: no

So, anyone have a sugestion, guess or recomendation on this? I'd be very grateful!

Iris Zero

Maybe Gate - Thus the JSDF Fought There. It's modern military vs fantasy setting, and the main character is quite resourceful.

Darwin's Game - Main character caught in a cellphone-based battle royale. He has no clue what his power is, so he ends up making the most out of the situations he gets in. Overall, he's a pretty likable protagonist.

Rising x Rydeen - Click the manga (link) and read my comment about the series. That pretty much explains it all.

Dorohedoro - Protagonist and his best friend must take on an entire world of sadistic magic users, using mainly knives and martial arts/close-combat fighting. They do this to figure out who turned the protagonist's head into that of a lizard's, but you wouldn't believe just how much deeper and complex the mystery gets behind its primary simple set up. Very gory, yet very funny as well.

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari - Main character's stuck with a shield, and he's forbidden from using any weapons whatsoever. He can only use support-based abilities, and due to a set up that has him portrayed as a villain, just about everyone hates him = no one to support. For what he has to put together to survive in this fantasy world, it's definitely very impressive to follow.

Hope it helps!

I strongly second Iris Zero
Also second MxO

Gakuen Alice does not fit, her power is very special and strong
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari does not fit at all, he is one of few to actually have power and already beat one of the other heroes by ch.8 (would have)... Excellent manga though

The first half-ish (100 chapters ish though, so enough to keep you happy) of The Breaker: New Waves. And then the MC just gets pointlessly OP.

And like the first chapter of its (necessary to read) prequel, The Breaker. And then the MC just gets pointlessly OP.

Can't think of anything else, sorry :[

No Game No Life Should fit. Two gamer siblings are transported to a fantasy world and must battle supernatural creatures through games.

Sentou Jousai Masurawo The premise is similar to NGNL, a hikikomori enters a competition full of magic/gods/etc.. He only has his scary look going for him. Unlike NGNL though, the MC relies more on luck, bluffs and misunderstandings than clever tricks.

Transfer Student Storm Bringer is pretty much like that. No supernatural powers, but the MC is the weakest among all the violent delinquents. He relies on lies, deception and luck most of the time.

Sunabozu Maybe. The MC is physically very weak but with technology and tricks manages to more often than not survive his enemies.

Bakudan! - Bakumatsu Danshi Kinda like Storm bringer but during the bakumatsu era. Despite being a weakling, the MC is thought to be a powerful swordsman.
