Do you have any manga/josei that you consider a guilty pleasure? Either because it's cliche filled or unpopular, but you cannot help but love it. Mine are:

Namida Usagi - Seifuku no Kataomoi
Nan Eomma Nun Appa
Seifuku de Vanilla Kiss
Papillon - Hana to Chou
Boku kara Kimi ga Kienai

Shinjo Mayu's works. Just its own level of horrible but I still finished most of them........ ._.

Kinkyori Renai - The plot seems to go nowhere for me but I love me some teacher/student romances so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ugh, I hate Namida Usagi - Seifuku no Kataomoi so much, but I also can't stop reading it. :[

[Skip Beat!] I invested too much time into it already. I rarely read ongoing shoujos that are this long, but well... it's not necessarily bad either, but it has decreased in quality. Still, once I see an update I have to read it.

And everything by HWANG Mi-Ri. You read one, you've read them all. No, seriously. So cliche and overrated but they are the guiltiest of guilty pleasure.

Same!! Her works are indescribably awful but I end up finishing them! Ugh guilty pleasures no
Also there's Honey x Honey Drops which I extremely disliked but read it anyway. I can't stand the banality of Kaichou wa Maid-sama! either but I read that as well. I thought it would get better but that never happened laugh

(Ai Shoujo is one of the worst written shoujo manga ever and thus a bit amazing. Maybe.)

Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori is mine but that one is actualy very readable and kind of good if deeply flawed. Edit: And i reviewed it now.

a lot of shoujo fit this category but i tend to like really possessive male leads who tries to control the heroine's life.

i also love me a good love triangle.

these are things that are generally looked down upon in shoujo so i consider them guilty pleasures... lol

Bumping this just a little because I think the topic is really interesting.

Yeah I have a couple of no-name shoujo I really enjoy, ones that aren't very popular and that follow the the 'what not to do' formula.

Though for me, one of my biggest guilty pleasures is Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji. The girl is a liar and puts up with a lot of emotional abuse, and the boy is a sadist--well, for some reason I love it. Maybe it's because she's got him totally wrapped around her little finger.

Also I love gang stories. And stories about teachers who rescue everyone in class and help them get along.

Hapi Mari such a guilty pleasure. I have dropped other manga for some of the stuff that is in this one (sexual assault, abusive relationship tactics, etc) but for some reason I love happily married <3 no

Aw, I unabashedly love Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji and Hatta Ayuko's work in general.

The one shoujo that I can't stop reading, even though it's an ABSOLUTE train wreck, is Cosplay Deka. It's just so horrible in every way. Its portrayal of both men and women is horribly sexist, the characters are vapid and empty-headed... really, I have nothing good to say about it. It's so bad that I can't stop reading it, though! I guess that's humanity's voyeuristic tendencies for you.

Watashi ni xx Shinasai!
Everything I hate about shoujo all rolled up in a single manga. Love triangles? Check. Heroine becomes totally helpless for the sake of drama + fanservice scenes with a guy she doesn't love? Check. Despicable character painted in a "boo hoo poor him dont you feel bad come on he's hot right" light even though guys like that should just get kicked in the nuts with stiletto heels? Check. Still..I've read all the chapters that have been released and continue to do so. I'm not sure if its a guilty pleasure or more like a train wreck I cant look away from or both. Even though I'm reading this I dont want to put it on my reading list because of how horrible it is. I have it in my special garbage dump list.

Waltz wa Shiroi Dress de - This manga could have been seriously improved by Koto dying and the two guys hooking up with each other.... not kidding.

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
This one starts where the main female lead, Koto, is engaged to Masaomi.... so what does she do, she goes off to a party without her fiance and essentially hooks up with Sagitto. Rather than act responsibly, she still marries Masaomi and continues her affair with Sagitto on the side. As for Masaomi, you find out at some point that he's actually terminally ill. Koto then acts like a poor innocent waif, not her fault that she's being treated as an enemy spy/traitor because Sagitto is in fact an enemy spy.

Yes! A thousand times over. I feel like I've been following Cosplay Deka for forever, and it's so horribly smutty and fanservish, but I love it. Can't stop reading because I have this horrible megane fetish and I'm waiting for the full blown smut! lol.

And Hwang Mi-Ri's Hot-Blooded Woman. It's probably her best work to be honest, but halfway through the series, it just descends into typical Hwang Mi-Ri awfulness. Couldn't stop loving it though. Haven't re-read it in years though, but back when I was still reading shoujo, I think I read this maybe two or three times over.

I wouldn't say I love it, but Boku wa Imouto ni Koi o Suru. Art's terrible, heroine is your typical airhead crybaby, cliche premise with your typical shoujo tropes and yet I've always had such a soft spot for it. Maybe because it was my first smutty forbidden romance read which is why I've always been willing to give it a pass.

Ah and lest I forget, Desire Climax, and this was before I started reading BL. People love to hate this manga, but I remember that it was hugely popular back in its heyday. It's really just smut with great art, which was probably why I was willing to overlook some of its biggest flaws. Really, her work is best when she's using male characters.

Hot Gimmick. It's such a guilty pleasure of mine. I love it to bits even though there are sooo many things wrong with it. The characters are all so messed up, and the main relationship is just...something mothers should warn their daughters about, basically.

Hana Yori Dango and Akuma de Sourou for similar reasons, though I enjoy them both to a lesser extent.

Sugar Sugar Rune. I don't read mahou shoujo manga, ever, but I found myself really enjoying this one even though it's super cheesy, and cheesy, and did I mention cheesy?

Peach Girl. I'm not sure why, really. There's nothing terrible about it, but it's also not a manga I'd procraim to love in front of all and sundry.

There was this amazing incest fic I read once, though for the life of me I can't remember what it was called/who created it. But yeah, that was definitely a GP manga, haha.

etc, etc, etc.

Sensei, Suki The last story I really love even if it isn't anything special
Desire Climax too, dunno why, maybe because it's smut and it has a megane male lead

Any incest manga are like that to me too XD especially Oujitachi wa Izonsuru as well as any smut in general especially if they have a bad plot

As much as I am embarrassed to say it, I really liked Hwang Mi Ri's Hot Blooded Woman as well and Cutie Boy and Red Lion (i'm not sure about that last one being hers tho) back when I was in highschool. When I reread it this year, I still liked it but not because of the romance, but because of the gag, and well, the heroine's personality. laugh
