Most of the time when another genre has anything resembling romance in it, they barely touch upon the subject. If we're lucky there will be an epilogue or something that shows that they are still together after so and so many years. More likely there is just a bunch of "accidents" that always end up with the guy (never the one responsible for said "accident") getting punded by the mighty fist of retribution...or slap, kick, hammer, rocketlauncher or whatever else you can use to inflict bodily harm...

Is there any manga where romance isn't the main genre that actually deals with the romantic feelings of the characters in a satisfying way?

Yeah, I realize that "satisfying" is very much depending on the person reading but whatever biggrin

Akame ga Kiru! and Magi - Labyrinth of Magic come to mind as having some romance in it, but "some" is the key word. Both are subplots, but Magi deals with it slightly less seriously, although it has set itself on a romantic path.

Rave Master, Hiro Mashima's previous work, has more prominent romance than most shounen manga today, but it truly develops in the end. It's not as troll-worthy as most other shounen manga that have romance, but it's not a masterpiece in that regard.

I'll think of a few more and update this post. Also, the only other good romance that I've read/am reading that fit the requirements you put out are manga that are primarily romance. Would you be OK with those types of suggestions?

As long as it's not ONLY romance, been reading a lot of those recently biggrin

I've been thinking about reading Rave Master for a while now. But I must admit that the sheer length of it is what has made me hesitate in starting to read it. Not that I won't read lengthy manga, it's just... Loooong shounen have a tendency to dissappoint me in the end, or in the middle, or...

Both Akame ga Kiru! and Magi - Labyrinth of Magic has been on my to-read list since I peeked at their respective anime and decided to wait until they're finished.

About Sket Dance, with only a volume and a half left to scanlate I think I'll wait until it's completed... (Just to make sure that I get an ending after reading 30+ volumes)

Well, Magi doesn't cover the actual romantic stuff yet in the anime. Jury's still out on any romantic payoff, but the author acknowledged the ship she was making in chapter 200, which is even after Kingdom of Magic, the second season of Magi. Akame is still going on in its anime run, but I highly doubt they'll cover the romantic subplot in this season; it's a recently implemented element of the manga that would feel out of place in the anime's first season.

Rave Master is alright. I read it about two or three years ago, so I'm not sure if my perspective would change now, since I am significantly more critical of shounen than I was in high school. It wasn't extremely stupid, but I can't guarantee that there won't be points where you'll get pissed off. It's similar in style to Fairy Tail, so that could be a good measuring stick for you for whether you'll like it or not.

I'll also throw in Horimiya, Ojojojo, and Gokukoku no Brynhildr. They're a little different from the terms you set out (which I understand, since I look for actual romance in manga too, instead of skirting the issue). The first two have romantic payoff and continue the story, but they aren't super-sugary romance; rather, they are good comedy stories about mundane situations, if that's your style.

Brynhildr isn't strictly romance, and, as it's still in serialization, I can't say for sure if there will be a payoff. But the romance is handled better than most shounen/seinen manga, and it's a great series to boot.

One of my personal favorites is Baby Steps. It's just a really good sports manga that doesn't have the super skills or strange abilities. It's about as realistic as you can get while keeping it interesting. The romance is very obvious from the start and it proceeds in a couple places pretty explicitly. In any case, it's absolutely adorable.
