Hi, i'm currently looking for some stuff to read, specifically fantasy fighting manga. (edit: Note: Web Novels and LN's are fine too)

what i'm looking for is a fighting manga set in a fantasy world where the characters have special powers, e.g magic, supernatural abilities etc.

some examples of the type of world and characterization i'm looking for are:
Naruto
Bleach
One Piece
MAR
Fairy Tail
Magi - Labyrinth of Magic

as you may tell, they all have a similar feel to the setting and characters

Want:
Male Lead - highly preferred but not necessary if the story is really good
Fighting
Fantasy World
Light Comedy - i don't want it to be to serious or a gag manga
Plot - whats the point of reading a plot-less manga
Actively Scanlated - i don't want to have to wait months for chapters or have no translations at all

Don't Want:
4-Koma - really don't like reading 4-koma's, they just really frustrate me (so no K-On!)
Fluffy - hard to explain, but i dont want it to be all flowers and girly squeals and idiot protagonists that are all "oh they smiled at me... I LOVE YOU!"
Ecchi - some ecchi is fine as long as its not over the top, sick of manga with panty shots and boob shots in every pannel
Gag
Oneshots
- absolutely hate oneshots, especially the ones that leave you wanting more
Dark/Depressing
Psychological/Mind F_ck
Yaoi
Yuri

Josei - i don't mind romance but Josei is a little to much for my tastes
Shounen Ai
Shoujo Ai
Rape
Hentai/Borderline H

Doujin
Smut
Gender Bender
- this is ok ONLY if its girl dressed as guy
Gore - a little is fine but i don't want it to be like Gantz where its all detailed out, blood spurts and decapitation i can handle, but i don't need to see the details of brain matter splattering the floor

thanks, but i've been reading this 1 already, although rather slowly, the premise of the story is good and all, but to me it felt more like a historical this world rather than a fantasy world and the characters don't really have anything going for them, also the gore in this 1 is a bit high on my don't like scale (thus the rather slow reading)

thanks, noblesse is set in this world though (with a few slight differences) so it doesnt really fit, as for tower of god its getting a little boring lately (too much of the same stuff repeated)
but both are good webtoons

in terms of webtoons im looking more for stuff like Kubera, A Fairytale for the Demon Lord and Crepuscule (yamchi)

I'll definately recommeng The Breaker, which is a very cool martial arts manga. It's well-drawn, has a great plot (though that's a matter of opinion) and, best of all - has a second, ongoing season. Just check it out...
Then, how about something more supernatural like Zero or Variante (though that has a female MC), maybe Tokyo Crazy Paradise?

Have you tried Esprit ? The general setting is similar to that of one piece.
The lead is female, but it's shounen, no ecchi, and with focus on friendship (there are one or two annoying lovestruck characters, but that's not their only feature, and it's not to the point of Naruto). Slow updates.

Double Arts is really nice too, but it got axed after 23 chapters. I really like their world. The main charas travel around and fight baddies (and then train to fight stronger baddies). I think it's worth reading despite the axe.
The main characters are a boy and a girl, but the romantic part is a subplot (from what I remember, almost non-existent at this point), with focus on the fighting. (by the same author as Nisekoi, which I, personnally, don't like; I would much rather have had him continue Double Arts)

There is Alive - The Final Evolution too. It's set in the real world; people suddenly start getting powers. And it's actually finished ! Maybe a bit dark-ish for you?

Ajin : about immortal people in a world -except for that- similar to ours. The immortal people have strange powers (all the same set) , but we don't know all about it yet. Slow updates. Oh, and, not much comedy I guess. Pretty dark. (wait, forget it, it's way too dark actually)

Code: Breaker regular fighting super power-ish shounen. It's been a while, I forgot the plot, but i do remember it fits your request perfectly.

Hunter x Hunter ? It got pretty gory in the last arc (the chimera ants one), but you can pretend it stops before that, and you'll still have two hundred or so chapters to read, and a well-rounded ending.

Itsuwaribito Utsuho about a guy who lies. But there's a lot of fighting and supernatural powers. Quite funny at times.

I was looking for a few mangas sharing the same setting I read a while back (about people in an enclosed space (town, or school) suddenly growing powers and fighting with them) but I couldn't find it.
(edit: found one: Aphorism ; kids at a school get super powers and have to fight different situations with it. Usually in teams. Maybe dark-ish?)

If you're looking for more, you could still check the "special abilities" ( http://https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?page=1& category=Special+Ability%2Fies ) and "super powers" ( http://https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?category=Sup er+Powers ) categories.

Hmm... How about these:

Amatsuki
Meteor Methuselah (Female lead)

And these are fantasy and have fighting, but the main characters don't really have super powers/etc. :

Basara (Female lead)
Drifters (Same mangaka as Hellsing)

@LaylaHarcourt, fallow, mikako17 - thanks for all the suggestions, i'll start looking through them now smile

I have read The Breaker and am about halfway through new waves (getting kinda bored of it though)
I've also read Double Arts and i agree, it is a great read, just wish there was more, as for Code: Breaker i'm pretty sure its basically about assassins and romance with a side of supernatural powers (only read up to ch.16 so far, and that was well over 2 years ago)

Gensomaden Saiyuki + Saiyuki Reload + Saiyuki Reload Blast: More of an adventure manga but there's fighting in there and I think while it gets to dark places (all their backstories are Tragic) it manages to balance it with comedy. I can't remember how gory it was but I don't think it's too bad. The series is prettttty old though so the art is kind of dated in the beginning. Minekura's work is absolutely gorgeous by Saiyuki Reload though.

Nanatsu no Taizai: I think it fits most of what you're looking for and Crunchy Roll is doing a simulpub of it so the scanlations are as up-to-date as you can get.

Pandora Hearts: I like this a lot but I think the fighting scenes can be somewhat lackluster in that they're maybe too short, which is a problem I didn't think was possible. Plot more than makes up for it though.

Soul Eater: Female lead but I think it's quite good. Got kind of a non-ending though.

Re:Monster: Pretty new but it's shaping up alright. As a warning there's some rape elements in the beginning but nothing too graphic. It oscillates between dark and comedic. The story is a little oddly framed since it's based on a light novel so there's a ton of internal narration which might be a turn off.

Rave Master: If you like Fairy Tail you might like Mashima's other famous work as well?

@deshabille - thanks, sorry for the late reply, i have to say Nanatsu no Taizai and Rave really are what i'm looking for (already up to date on the first and at c58 on the 2nd), i'll start on Pandora Hearts soon, as for the Saiyuki series, should i start with the first of your suggestions or the prequel's that were made after them?

IMO you should read in the order they were written (Saiyuki, Saiyuki Reload, etc.). I think the prequels will be more meaningful if you've read the others first.
