Hey all!
This is a pretty general question. I have read and enjoyed manga over many genres, and am open to anything. What do you think it something that HAS to be read? What is your all time favorite manga? Why? For example, one of my favorites is Skip Beat! because of the way the artist draws expressions and creates romantic/sexual tension. I also really like 7 Seeds because the story comes together brilliantly.
What do you suggest?

Angel Densetsu because it's one of the funniest manga ever drawn and filled with great characters.
Cross Game because it's Adachi's best work.
Emma because it's a great romance story with nice artwork, and being a western period drama of sorts sets it apart.
Kanata Kara because it has a well realized fantasy world along with just being an excellent manga by a great mangaka. You know a manga is good when the ending makes you ache inside (not due to the way it ends, but just because it's over and you can't be part of it anymore).
Kiseijuu because it's an unusual seinen action manga with good character development.
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou because it makes a good argument for manga as fine art.

Dokuhime is my absolute favorite, a dark, brutally twisted tale that gets inside your head.
Fullmetal Alchemist has one of the best storylines I've ever come across. Excellently laid out, beautifully lovable characters, ingenious plot twists and reveals, and endearing art.
Keppeki Shounen Kanzen Soubi a unique, fluffy gem. <3
Sarashi Asobi simply gorgeous art, short yet captivating story, and beautiful characters.
Shiawase Kissa Sanchoume the most adorable expressions, unique and very lovable characters, you'll fall in love with the whole cast and love the length of it.
Watashitachi no Shiawase na Jikan hauntingly beautiful, sad, and thought-provoking.
Game Over (MIZUTANI Fuka) really sweet romance in this one, like a spoonful of sugar. The characters were light but felt human. It's a quick read, but really touching.
Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro this one is... unique. xD From the art to the story, it really was something I'd never come across before. It took me a few chapters to get into it, but once I did, it really was an enjoyable read.
Thinking back, I thought if you love Skip Beat!, you'll probably adore Seiyuu Ka! as it's pretty similar. I love the characters and expressions and it's really an adorable, romantic, fluffy story.
Ageha o Ou Monotachi is kinda... er... wild. Yes, wild. It's hilarious, the art has a sketched feel to it that I find attractive, and it's just weird. Lots of character to this one.
Durarara!! was very engaging and just seemed to run so smoothly. The art is lovely, the characters unique. It can be a little confusing to follow at some parts though.

Noragami one of my absolute favorites! A beautiful mix of lovable characters, gorgeous art, a captivating story, and a dash of romance to go with the action.
Ratman was a bit of a crazy ride for me. Exciting, fast-paced action combined with a very amusing cast of characters, some of the best background characters, and a unique storyline makes this one of my favorites as well.
Dogs: Bullets & Carnage I loved the story and action here. Really drew me in.
Itsuwaribito Utsuho in my opinion unique, an unexpected breath of fresh air for the genre.

I would not personally recommend Kanata Kara; after seeing great reviews, I was very disappointed. Barely made it through the whole thing waiting for it to get better.

Edit: I added a few more titles. ^^ I'm not sure exactly what you favor, so it's a kinda eclectic mix going on here. bigrazz I hope you'll find something to your liking. bigrazz

Well, I think pretty much all your choices are terrible. And I'm known for my good taste, so I have that going for me.

Slam Dunk

Disregarding the ending, it may be the best manga I ever read. Bar a few other manga, I've yet to be as fully immersed into the story and characters as I was in this.

I'm really into webtoons lately so my recommendation would be Cheese in the Trap (one of the best romance stories I've ever read, realistic and intriguing) and Tower of God (a really good fantasy story, brilliantly written)

I'm not sure why you feel the need to insult my preferences. All I said was that I would not personally recommend that title; this is a topic of opinions, there's no need to put down mine or go so far as to insinuate that I have bad taste just because what I like is different from what you do.

Taste is a subjective matter, so let's calm down.

Two still ongoing series I really like and look forward to every single week:
Kubera - A webtoon, complex story and relationships between characters, greatly recommended.

Tokyo Ghoul - Pretty well known already, so I guess there's nothing to add to it.

For complete ones I'd like to suggest:
Hoshi no Samidare
Onani Master Kurosawa

Also seconding Tower of God, Noragami and Angel Densetsu.

"I'm known for my good taste" - really now?

Sorry I can't present charts that show that my taste is good, I hope that also works?
I mainly read romances but I can recommend a few other things that I quite enjoyed:

14-sai no Koi incredible slice-of-life romance, very cute characters
Yumekui Merry what modern shounen should be imho, it's seinen though^^
Akagami no Shirayukihime one of the very few manga where princes do not make me want to smash something

the slice-of-life & comedy gems mostly with kids:
Yotsubato!
Barakamon
Hayachine! (this one is new)

the ongoing "modern romances"
Last Game for shoujo
Horimiya for shounen

the only webcomic that ever made it to the top of my list:
Melo Holic

the greatest wasted potential (due to axing) I found so far:
Double Arts

my most loved manga ever:
Bonnouji sorry but never found anything more relaxing so far

the reason why we should have more battle seinen:
Hoshi no Samidare

my random recommendation:
Taiyou no Ie just clicked with me, I like the art style and how things are presented, it just feels nice

there are tons more I'd recommend, but that's what public lists are for... I hope you find something good and there aren't any more stupid comments...

Well, I think pretty much you're shitty and terrible. And I'm known for my good judge of character, so I have that going for me.

But please, bless us by making your lists public. I must see you impeccable taste. Also, I'd like to know who deemed you the purveyor of good and bad taste. Yourself? laugh

I'd recommend Ashita no Joe, Aria, Banana Fish, Vampire Juujikai as some that quickly come to mind whenever I think of mangas that accomplished what they set out to do. Please don't be too cruel with my choices, jedinat. laugh

Lol, excuse me for responding in kind in a tongue in cheek manner. He/she anti-suggested my suggestion and it irked me. It's one of the best shoujo manga of all time. I don't put ratings on my list so making it public wouldn't do much.

You sound so butthurt. He/she had an opinion different from yours; it's normal, they're called opinions for a reason...

There are better shoujo out there, that's my opinion.

You make yourself look incredibly pretentious and petty when you claim you "have great taste" and that her/his choices were bad when that's subjective...

Best reads:
Basara
7 Seeds
Sakamichi no Apollon
