I'm looking for manga set in an Islamic historical setting. Anything from 622 is good; I like the early empires, Ilkhanids, and Mamluks, but preferably not 20th century or later. If anything is set in Muslim Spain or under the Abbasid Dynasty, that would be ideal! Military history is good, but other themes are especially welcome.
I see so many "Arabian-themed" manga that are totally homogenized in terms of cultures and time periods. Otoyomegatari may be a good counter-example for this kind of thing, where the mangaka did research. Sorry this is so specific.

A little further off from your time period but Yume no Shizuku, Ougon no Torikago deals with the Ottoman Empire and is mostly about the historical Sultana Hurrem. it's not super historically accurate though

In Elixir there is an arc dealing with Suleyman the Magnificent however even the mangaka said that isn`t very accurate. The setting is mainly european and jump between 14-6 century, very offen mentioning the Ottoman empire and its political and religious dealings with the other great powers.

Thanks for the suggestions. Of the ones I haven't read, I'll try them out! Shokoku no Altair seems to deal with Ottoman Turkey (just going by the description), but it seems interesting.
I guess the Ottomans are really where it's at in terms of adaptable-to-manga Islamic history. Lots of well-documented conquest.

If there was a manga about the crusades there should be some Islamic setting in it. Sadly I don't know such manga (though something might exist).
