Hi, I'm wondering if theres a word for a certain art style I like in anime. Something that would help me track down more anime that uses this style.

There are certain shows that were made this century, yet have the look of shows from the 70's and 80's. I don't think they're just cheap necessarily, though they use simple colours and don't overdo it on highlights, shadows, and gradients. Human figures are also done with less sharp pointy bits, making it stand out when they do use any of these things.

Some shows that I think fit this category, assuming there is a name for it, are: Lupin III, Cinderella Boy, Monster, Case Closed, Homeless Child Remy, maybe Master Keaton, and as I mentioned, anime from before I was born.

I don't have any suggestions for you, but this is something that I have often pondered myself. I wish there was a categorization of common manga/anime art styles. Then we could search by the art styles we like. Unfortunately, there are some styles that I can not get past no matter how good the plot.

The categories that already are being used are:

Sketchy Art Style
Simple Art Style -> Maybe this might help you?
Realistic Art Style
Psychedelic Art Style
Multiple Art Styles
Funny Art Style
Elaborate Art Style
Atypical Art Style

Some of these are not being used a lot. Something like a scale would be awesome, where very realistic manga (Style 1) are on one end of it to very abstract (Style ?) on the other end. I am sure there would be exceptions and that some could fit multiple categories. It would probably be harder then i think.
