Hello, I've just finished reading Holyland and I have a few requests:

1) something like holyland

2)A manga with a "legendary" protagonist. Urban legends (like at the last chapter of holyland) also count. There are two forms to this request:
a) the protagonist is already legendary in the beginning and there's plenty of rumours about him and then he appears
or
b) like in holyland, we accompany the mc's evolution and he ends up being known for the things he's done during the story (there are rumours about him and they may not be all real,
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
like in the end of holyland, some of the things that were attributed to Yuu in the last chapter were actually referring to Masaki or Shougo
)

Bonus points if he doesn't look as strong has he is

thank you ^^

Like Trigun?

How about Aiki? Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - "Kono Watashi no Mono Tonare, Yuusha yo" "Kotowaru!"? Until Death Do Us Part?

I'd also recommend Onepunch-man, but all his achievements are attributed to someone else. His fame (or infamy) is slowly rising.

Go for Kouji´s other manga too ! Hollyland was great but his "worst" cuz first. None of these look weak with only Angel Densetsu fitting that and kinda Rurouni Kenshin.
Yes, Shi ga Futari o Wakatsu Made is top of the line. For Trigun go anime first.

Berserk´s Guts is feared by demons as the Black Swordsman, you get to see his entire evolution from his birth and he is even hunted by the chearch as a anti-christ figure !
None are better but is is 100% dark. Kouji even advises a bit for the story.

Hellsing has dracula as the lead ! Vagabond has the biggets samurai ever.
Azumi, Kozure Ookami and Mugen no Juunin have more such chambara.
Gantz is like point 2 but a bit crazy. Oh well. Toukyou Kushu also case 2.
Black Jack + the 90s ova series too.
Go seinen or go home i say. I kid but only a bit bigrazz .
If you like what you read this is my ongoing-masterlist project.

If anyone cares to contribute i would apreciate it. Other on it fit too.

It may not be exactly what your looking for, but I'm seeing this in Shoukoku no Altair with the MC. He starts from being relatively unknown to quite the character. Please give it a try.

Edit: Just noticed you're already reading it. Should have checked your reading list first. Sorry 'bout that!
I'll leave it here should other people be tempted to try it out though.

Tiji-kun! The urban legend part is pretty similar to holyland although the guy is known since the start. The manga itself is not very good though, decent if you like action/MA I guess but don't expect much.

Monster Kinda obvious but it does fit perfectly. Even the police doesn't acknowledge that Johan exists, he's only rumors and stories. It's about the antagonist but he's really the main focus of the story anyway.

Adabana Oneshot. Very short but fits what you want.

Ore to Akuma no Blues If you get bored with action mangas here's one about the making of a blues legend. Great atmosphere and characters. The MC is surrounded in mystery, and at times feels like a ghost... Difficult to explain without spoilers but it's what you're looking for.
