Hey people.
I'm trying to play the fate/stay night visual novel but I'm having some concerns about it. I know the game is really long so I'd like to play the best version available in order to make it worthwhile...
I'm playing version 1.1 by MirrorMoon is there a better one?
I've heard about three routes... "Unlimited Blade works", "Fate" and also "Heaven's Feel".
For those who've played it,
The routes are chosen during the actual game or before you start playing? Does the game start with Tohsaka Rin all the time or is it just the version I'm playing? Am I doing things right?
I'm sorry for this but I've never played a VN before...
Can anyone enlighten me on this?

You choose the route while playing, your actions decide it, don't think the version matters, don't understand with what you mean by start with Tohsaka Rin, you mean play as her or you just randomly meet her first? VN are fairly simple, don't worry about it, you could also just look up for walkthrough if you are so worried. You just play through the game and then at a certain point you choose if for example A. stay at school B. go home each choice matter to some extent depending on route.

The newest version by Mirror Moon is 3.2 which is also the one i played.
The game has three routes but at the beginning only the "Fate" route is unlocked. After you completed it you can play "Unlimited Blade Works" and afterwards "Heaven's Feel". The routes are chosen in the first chapter of the game. The Prologoue of the game is from Rins point of view and afterwards it changes to Shirous point of view.
In the 3.2 Version i played theres a Flowchard pdf in the game folder which shows all routes and choices in the game, but obviously that can spoil quite a lot.

The latest patch right now is the one on Beast's Lair using MirrorMoon's TL and integrating some things from the PSVita version though it might have a few bugs.
The route choices depends on what version of the game you're playing. The original 2004 PC version only allows you to play in a set order while newer version allows you to pick which route you want to go through. It is advised though that you follow the route order of playing "Fate" first then "Unlimited Blade Works" and then finally "Heaven's Feel."
The prologue is always from Rin's point of view.

Well then.
If so, I guess I'm not doing anything wrong, fortunatelly.
Let me see, even if I have to play the fate route first in order to be able to play the others, I WILL be able to play all of them, right? I don't have to download more 'parts' of the novel, correct?
Btw, I checked in the game folder and there's also a pdf file with the routes so I believe my previous statements are correct...
Thanks for your answers, awesome people. If I have problems, I'll ask here
