Hello all!

I have two requests for you all. Summed up: I'd like something similar to Double Arts and/or Samurai High School. I know an odd combo, but loved both of them. Double Arts was my favorite, though. I count this request as two since I can go with a manga that's similar to one or another, not necessarily both. Below are the details of my request, bulleted and bolded for your convenience. Thank you in advance!

What I liked:
-Power couple/equal partners, whether their strengths are different or the same
-Ultimate goal or purpose that they work toward together--doesn't have to be save the world. Liked the disease aspect of DA, but also the power position in SHS
-I liked that the physical fights were used to support the main goal in DA
-I liked the shounen style, but want a strong female lead
-Romance with development, but not necessarily the main point of it all
-Family involvement--really loved the dynamic in DA
-Loved the adventure aspect in DA
-I loved in DA that the couple was forced together into a weird scenario (hand-holding, you know)
-I liked the innocence of DA, actually, if that makes sense.

What I don't want;
-No hentai, yuri, yaoi, shounen-ai, shoujo-ai, or smut. Only light echi, if any at all, if you please.
-Completely ridiculous characters all the time
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
(i.e. Kamamiya in SHS, with very few exceptions)

-No serious love-shapes, unless end-couple is obvious.
-Don't want there to be physical fights as the main focus, please. I lose interest...
biggrin biggrin

I really enjoyed Double Arts and totally get what you mean by innocence (I've never read Samurai High School though). Here are a few manga that you may like:

Immortal Rain (This is has the fantasy adventure and innocence that you enjoyed in Double Arts)
Chrno Crusade (Fantasy adventure in US and kinda innocence)
Vampire Game (This is least like Double Arts, it's a fantasy adventure with kinda innocence and shoujo art)

All of the suggestions have a strong female lead and romance.

Okay, thank you all so much for your replies!

Mikako17: I'm glad you understood what I meant about innocence! I thought it was so refreshing. I'm actually reading through Immortal Rain right now and loving it! I will definitely keep the other two on my list too smile . Thank you!

Knightzomegaz: I actually started Soul Eater a while back and did love it a lot. I put it down, though, for some reason that I can't even remember now. So I'll have to pick it up again. And no worries, innocence isn't necessarily a requirement! I just enjoyed it. Thank you!

Sunder: I think I started that one before too, but had a difficult time liking the characters. But I might be wrong. I have a problem with starting series and then stopping... :/ I'll check it out again, thank you!

Have you read Hitoribocchi no Chikyuu Shinryaku? It doesn't have the "adventure" aspect of either Double Arts or Samurai Deeper Kyo, but it does have a lot of action. Everything else seems to fit with what you want too (and the chemistry between the main protagonists is great).

Also what did you think about Hoshi no Samidare? If you enjoyed it enough, and are at least mildly interested in the mangaka's other works, I would definitely recommend Spirit Circle, which I think is Mizukami Satoshi's strongest work. (His Sengoku Youko is pretty fun too.)

Urami Koi, Koi, Urami Koi. also probably fits. Again, not exactly adventure, but it certainly is action. The character dynamics are great in this one too. Not sure about whether they're an "equal couple," though, seeing as the male protagonist is noticeably physically weaker, haha.

You could also try Online - The Comic, which I personally enjoy, but others seem to have mixed opinions about. It fits all your requirements, of course.
