Played Neverwinter for a little while between Dota matches with my stack. Combat was pretty sweet, the rest was a rehash and the usual boring stuff.

It's hard to find a truly free to play game out there now. One where the item shop does not sell items the help strengthen a character. Went beck to PWI cause I heard they added new classes.. however it's the same old crappy game. It's still based on exp stones and cash shop gears. The new classes were interesting but nothing that would alter the game. It's still a pvp item shop game.

@mamsmilk. I played Neverwinter when it was released. I had some innovative concepts such as active tanking and healing as well as area mechanics (push back off cliff to kill enemies), however it was too easy/fast to level up to max. The player base at the time was also full a noobs because of easy leveling. It's flaw in all ARC games. (players don't learn how to use their characters)

There are two types of MMO gamers nowadays. The players who would be just as happy to have an AI track them to the quests and kill the monsters for them all with in the effort of one mouse click. Then there are those who never needed a world map and learned where cities are and people they knew how to counter any problem if **** hit the fan. Sadly the majority are the former now... and games are designed with that in mind. no

I casually play Rainbow Saga. laugh

It gives me that Maple Story nostalgia without too much commitment on my part. It's like an easier and tackier version. Bonus is that you don't have to download it.

I played Path of Exile for a while. The system is intriguing but the game play is unforgiving and geared too much towards multiplayer for my taste. Building a viable character is hard but that was a part of the appeal. Real money only bought cosmetic changes to the game so it was definitely not pay to win. Winning, especially during end game, was not easy though. Bosses often curb stomped players on first encounter even in full groups and it was heavily equipment dependent. If your party has the wrong mix of characters or if your character isn't equipped and built just right, you would die. It didn't help that my ISP sucked. bigrazz

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn: I finished every FF game (even the Lightning nonsense) and canon spin-off but never touched the 2 online one´s as that isn´t my genre. PS Plus offers members a 2 week trial period (free enough for me) so i started with the "sequel". The controls are clearly meant for a keyboard but they work fine enough and the graphics and map size are clearly build with the PS3 in mind. The infrequent use of voice-overs dates the game further but the style and music are well done regardless and i had the feeling that i was playing a real FF game despite it being indistinguishable from WoW (B+ and free-ish to play now) or The Old Republic (B- and i watched all main story cutscenes on youtube as they are Kotor 3). The game is actually a bit better than Star Wars which surprised me. You can feel that Yoshida´s team looked at what the west did in the MMO genre and they did well all things considered when they remade the dead or arrival game. I only got me toes wet when i was done as the story is an alibi only but i can recommend the experience in the end. Check it out if you have a PS4 and all MMO´s should have a free trail period. B- (?)

The 4th and last one in the genre i played is the "fully" free DC Universe Online and it is kind of generic and small in size. Skip it. I plan on getting Tamriel Unlimited next month as i have all achievements/trophies in both prequels so let´s see how long i will last and I will try The Secret World at some point too as Funcom can write.

I took me 50 hours to get all the Achievements in Oblivion, 110 hours to get a Platinum Trophy in Skyrim (due to crashes) and i also played the first and 3rd entry in the series so The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited was a must. It is basically an uncoordinated Sykrim with even worse combat and less complex quests but the increase in scale is worth it. It features a somewhat comprehensible game flow and the hardware can finally run it´s now dated engine properly so this one is a keeper and the MMO for me as it is the first one to properly fit a console´s control mechanics and it feels "current gen" too.
I will quit it forever (until a proper add-on comes out) when i finish the main quests after
30-50 hours as i hate blind grinding.

Is Destiny: The Taken King counted as an MMO because i am getting it soon-ish and i certain hope that the game is now feature complete...

Warframe and Neverwinter (some Firefall too)

(Well... Warframe isn't exactly a MMO since you only play in groups of up to four... pvp might be different though, haven't tried that yet)

Trying out Skyforge

Seems like a sci-fi version of Tera with less focus on aiming or micro in combat and more focus on macro strategy with use of skills and spells.

Marvel Heroes (2016) It´s a Diablo clone and basically a "sequel" to X-men Legends and so on. I never touched the apparently disastrous launch build but i can confirm that the game got good now. The presentation could use a bit more money but i love how it ties in with Marvel´s life action adaptations! The put out a Civil War level just now and you get to select between getting Cap or Ironman for free if you are fast enough. I chose Tony, pro-registration all the way!
My regular character (you get to choose one for free) is The Punisher, with Agent Venom as my team-up partner. (They used to be in a mediocre Thunderbolts series.) Frank is my favorite US hero after Batman after all and it´s a shame that the DC moba didn´t work out.
They could have promoted their even larger adaptations line. Come on WB, let´s clone Diablo too (and give me a Vita version).

Warframe was good, i stopped tho cause tbh, it was a grind fest (can easily reach 1hour+ on a mission and , IF unlucky enuf, still get shiitty rewards haha)

I went p2p the first day i started it tho, but was still a grind fest for the most part
