i have read a LOT of manga, and yet i know that there is always an almost infinite number of them that i have not read, so i am hoping for some help here, i am looking for some manga where the mc is an average-ish dude, and he is dumped into pretty much a whole new world, and must gain strength to survive, a few examples would be
Breaker and its sequel The Breaker - New Waves,
rosario to vampire and it's sequel rosario to vampire - season II
or even yu yu hakusho

can you guys help an "American Otaku" out?

Seconds Deadman Wonderland, Psyren, Area D - Inou Ryouiki, and Btooom!

Another suggestions:
Alive: Saishuu Shinkateki Shounen
Kiseijuu, the anime has just ended few days ago.

thanks for the reply, however i have read these, except for Konjiki no Moji Tsukai - Yuusha Yonin ni Makikomareta Unique Cheat, which i am sad there are only 4 chapters, and kiseijuu, which i am now reading, but i have to say that Deadman Wonderland, Psyren, Area D - Inou Ryouiki, Gantz, and Btooom! are all great, and i wish there were more like them

I love the same type of manga, I usually consult the category/genre lists --

Weak to Strong
and
Martial Art/s (genre)

Favorites so far of this sort:
UQ Holder!
History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi
Hajime no Ippo
Tokyo Ghoul
Flow (I think this would especially suit the original premise)
Inuyashiki (a bit of a weird story though)
Ajin
The Gamer (a webcomic but still pretty good)

If you're willing to try something a little different from average to powerful...the Grappler Baki series is just breathtaking. (There are multiple series -- Grappler Baki, then New Grappler Baki, then Baki son of Ogre, then Baki-Dou) Baki, the main character, starts out quite strong but continues to improve, and the plot is intense.

Immortal Regis and it's sequel Cavalier of the Abyss are absolutely wonderful.

Also, Hoshi no Samidare is a really well liked one
Ao no Exorcist a little goofy but otherwise good
Kurozakuro great, until it was axed. But still worth the read.
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari based on a novel, but I actually like the manga more
Katekyo Hitman Reborn! one of the more popular one's that ended, but it fits your criteria
Ueki no Housoku
Veritas one of my favs, also axed though
Konjiki no Gash!! pretty old, still love it though

I hope this helps. Just a suggestion, this would be a lot easier if you made a couple of your lists public. Up to you.
