I'm looking for manga that have female-male dynamics where the female character is either in a position of power over the male character or is in some way the more dominant or proactive of the pair. I'm not necessarily looking for femdom or romance (though I have no objections to either) but rather a more general or even casual relationship that has this dynamic. Scenarios could include, for example, a master-servant pair, a meek guy and a headstrong girl, a younger brother and an older sister pair where she takes charge, or even a quasi-reversed situation where the male character has a female caretaker or servant who he is largely dependent upon (like Kuroshitsuji if Sebastian were a woman xD). They don't have to be the main characters, but I'd prefer it if they were major ones.

Do note that I'm wary of:

Shoujo/Josei where the girl initially appears to be the dominant one, only for the guy to later undermine her authority or use her agency against her for his own purposes (for example: Kanchigai Hime to Usotsuki Shimobe).

Ecchi in general. Mild ecchi is fine, but I'd really rather not see the female portrayed excessively as a sexual object, solely for the gratification of male readers. Also, I'd like the male character to have a personality -- so none of the loser protagonists/audience surrogates that are so common in ecchi/harem series unless they undergo significant character development.

I just feel like this type of relationship isn't represented much in manga (or fiction in general, for that matter), so I look forward to any suggestions!

Well it kind of depends on how far you want to go and what type of manga you're interested.

Action/drama wise there is...

There is Kiba no Tabishounin - The Arms Peddler A ruthless female arms dealer saves the life of a young boy and he is forced to become her apprentice. While officially their relationship changes later on she is always the dominant one. Ruthless and brutal action oriented story.

Also Deus x Machina. Headstrong shameless female lead and her mechanical servant battle automatons to redeem her family name.

In comedy you have...
Tende Freeze! A comedy about a ruthless selfish older woman exploiting a young teenaged boy's hormones for her own personal gain while fending off other women who want to do the same. The boy is just so happy to be popular with hot women he doesn't care that he is being exploited. Psychic powers, perverted mischief and haremy.


If you want full on femdom with borderline H tendencies you could look at Ibitsu (OKADA Kazuto) or Sundome

If you want Femdom so ridiculously extreme that it is played for laughs then you could look at Domina no Do! or 1 Love 9.

If you want something more fantasy and drama like there is stuff like Oooku and Tales from the Land of Daughters - ShengNan's Story

Borderline H but great plot: Nozoki Ana.

Josei pet/master to lovers relationship, but all along the female is dominant, but she's very vulnerable (not weak though) in front of her pet. Art takes a bit of getting used to. Kimi wa petto

I would like to recommend Air Master for a combat/martial arts series but sadly there are no scanlations. You may want to check out the anime. Change 123 is a good one of similar genre with a dominant female lead and a meek male lead. I have to say it's rather ecchi but the development makes up for it.

Mirai Nikki if you don't mind yanderes. She's a kick ass, albeit psycho female heroine.
