Hi everyone! I need something to read while I wait for updates from other series I'm currently reading. Not a fan of yuri/ yaoi or hentai, ecchi is ok if in moderation, other than that anything goes. My lists are public so please take a look to see what I've already read. Thanks! biggrin

Vaaaaaaague! You're going to have to be more specific if you want to get anything useful. Especially, since your lists are so tiny compared to the average manga reader on this site. Are you okay with manhwa, manhua, webcomics, and novels? Have you checked out the top 100 on the site or are you looking for something more obscure? Are you looking for something more realistic or something fantastical? Can you give anything more specific than just no yaoi/yuri/hentai?

Shounen: Bleach, One Piece, Naruto, The Breaker, The Breaker: New Waves, Fairy Tail, D.Gray-man, Dragon Ball, Kuroshitsuji, Death Note, Until Death Do Us Part

Seinen: Monster, Vagabond, Berserk, Claymore, Vinland Saga, Fullmetal Alchemist, Shin Angyo Onshi, Pluto, Akumetsu, One Outs, Gantz, Desert Punk, xxxHolic

Shoujo: Skip Beat!, Fruits Basket, Ouran High School Host Club, Kanata Kara, Beauty Pop, SA, Coda, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge

Jousei: Pet Shop of Horrors, Dawn - Tsumetai Te, Saiyuki, Katana, Dolls, Hyakki Yakoushou, Gokusen, Karneval

Sorry for being so callous and excessive, but it's really hard to help someone that doesn't know what they're looking for. The good news is that all of these manga are at least decent so feel free to take your pick.

Just for clarification, since you're asking for recommendations because you're waiting on other series is it safe to assume that you only want completed works or does that also not matter?? smile

Sorry for being vauge but I'm not really looking for anything too specific. I've been watching anime longer than I have been reading so chances are I've seen a series that people tend to recommend, hence my short list. That being said I only read the manga of an anime if I really enjoyed the series, there were major discrepancies between the two or a continuation of where the anime left off... looking at you Soul Eater.

I mainly read mangas, but manhwas and the like are fine. Completed series preferable. I usually stay away from series that are on haiatus, like D. Gray-man. Mainstream manga makes me a bit skeptical unless a friend bugs me continuously to read it... starting out at least.

Series I refuse to read are Bleach, Naruto, and Fairy Tail.

Thanks for the recommendations. Most series I've been recommended thus far were ones I've read or just not what I was looking for at the moment. Definitely checking out Vagabond and Akumetsu.
Any other noteworthy series are welcomed! smile

I was under the impression that Sensei no Kaban isn't available in English at all. That's the only series on your lengthy list of recommendations where that seems to be the case, so it stands out as a peculiar choice to include (though one or two others seem to be dead, translation-wise).

Anyways, since Neni's giving us free rein to plug just about whatever series we feel like... Here are my recs for the moment, based mostly on what I've been in the mood for recently (most are short, and all are completely available in English):

Tales of a Charcoal Burner
Kono Sekai no Katasumini
Battle Field
Baka & Gogh
A Kindly World
Yume no Soko
Fantasy World Jun
Ashita no Joe (seconded)
Ryuguden
Takemitsu-Zamurai

Probably a bit different from your usual fare, but nothing too out there.

Sensei no Kaban and (the still ongoing) Tempest are only available in german so i just changed my profile a bit. The translations for Even a Monkey Can Draw Manga / Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei are further incomplete.
I see no more mistakes besides that and i finally ran out of authors to add. For now...

Thx for speaking up and your choices redefine art-house biggrin . My 2nd favourite by Fumiyo is the surrealist Nagai Michi btw. and To All the Corners of the World is getting a movie!
Edit: Read about it here.

Edit2: @hahhah42 again -It´s actually quite sad how many manga come to Europe (France should win here) if you compared it to the US market...
Let´s see if digital publishing will save us on that front.

Sensei no Kaban... only available in german.

Sensei no Kaban isn't just available in German; aside from the obvious, it's also available in French (published by Casterman), Spanish (Ponent Mon), and Italian (Rizzoli Lizard).

So I'm sure plenty of people on this site can read the series, but it's best to make sure of that fact before recommending it in a given person's thread.

Thanks for the awesome recs guys. Honestly wasn't expecting that HUGE list but it was exactly what I asked for. smile I was a bit unsure of some series, like Mushishi, but your opinions say otherwise so I'll give them a shot.
@hahhah42 Thanks for the shorter recs. Sometimes I just need a short series in between long-running series.

Much obliged. biggrin

No worries, I can read spanish too.
