The site is having a rather busy week but E3 2015 is a blast too. Below is a comment i made on the ANN board regarding the topic as FFVII it is the biggest reveal up to now (dat standing ovation) and i am interested in what the rest of you have to say regarding it or Doom 4 or Fallout 4 or... as i have been watching one stream after another for 10 hour straight. The show is at least an A- as of day 2 and i have been streaming E3 live (it´s my Super Bowl) since about 2006 as broadcasts of the conferences became a thing back then.

Without further adoo i would like to introduce: Final Fantasy VII - E3 2015 Trailer | PS4

I have completed every numbered single-player FF and DQ game, all the story based spin offs / sequels / prequels and have also played all of Square´s of Enix "big" games. I have even 100%ed Drakengard 1 for some reason and FVII is still my favorite game but RE4 come close. I further played through an "HD mod" of FF VII in 2014 for a 3rd time overall and the classic still holds up. The re-master work the fans did made it look like early PS 2 game and even a re-translation exists so i would advise newcomers to play the original too / first as this one is incapable of coming out before 2018 or a later date with SE´s plate.

The company certainly struggled a lot during the last decade worth of content on the Japanese front and straight out lost relevance due to the high quality output of Bethesda and so on but the last few years showed a clear rebound in quality and this commitment to their most profitable and beloved single player game after a decade of teasing is welcomed even if unsurprising. The teaser also acknowledged the existence of the compilation and CC + AC Complete + Book 1 were quality additions to the canon that need to be worked into the new script. The "humor" will need to be touched up too but BC (the phone game), DoC (the script is a nightmare) and the 2nd book that never left Japan need to be banished from continuity. I wonder how expensive the game will turn out too as the original could have tanked the company back in the day but FF XV and KH3 have been in the cooker for a decade straight. The game will lastly have a hard time to not get an M if the original direction (a televised gas chamber execution will go over great) and a C by Cero is a given but even Batman justifiably rocks an M / 16+ these day.

Welcome back Gaia and this one will probably kick of another complication with the how games work nowadays. A project by Hajime Tabata has my blessing but Motomu Toriyama need to be kept away with a stick (more Type Zero and no more Lightning).

Yesterday's announcements were great, but I felt today's were pretty underwhelming. I'm a Nintendo fan, but I'm sad there wasn't a console-seller announced today.

But FF7! YES! That would definitely push me into buying a PS4. However, Microsoft announcing Xbox backward compatibility also pushes me in that direction...

As for all these VR offerings, it looks pretty promising, but I'm gonna wait until the product's out and reviews are in.

Yea I've always been a playstation fan, I've never even played an xbox before but I'm considering getting an xbox because of the backwards compatibility. Hopefully playstation catches up with that

They pretty much literally cannot. The code of the games designed to function on the Cell processor and the architecture of PS3 is something that just doesn't translate well to the current gen PC-lite x86 systems. The PS4 hardware is also nowhere near having the necessary power it would need to emulate the PS3 as a virtual system.

They should be able to emulate PS1 and PS2 games, but BC for PS3 games just isn't happening outside of the PSNow streaming service.

Games conferences fizzle out after the rush of the 2 opening days to give the attendees time play and a 2 day binge streaming session is enough for me.

Activision: Only Call of Duty: Black Ops III (more like 4) is a lock and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 looks like a mess as these guys did the HD remake too. Skate 4 when?

Bethesda: That is how you do a company dedicated conference and Fallout 4 / Doom look out of this world. The gore gasm montages the (US) press then put together were retarded tough.

Electronic Arts: No surprises but all the games look strong with Need for Speed standing out. The EA bashing is frankly unjustified.

Microsoft: 360´s round of backwards computably was half cooked and the last word on this matter hasn´t been stated here or elsewhere even if PS3 emulation without streaming is impossible. The games lineup was strong and Rare Replay was my secret game of the show. The still not shown Rise of the Tomb Raider 360 version should be glorious bust and i love that all sorts of games have the 360 version as giveaways even if i finished all so none can call them anti-consumerist now.

Nintendo: Their "presentation" was a fine grade C Level affair for what it was supposed to be and gave me enough B Level games keep me occupied but Metroid deserves better then that turd or the script from Other M which is the last taste we got in 2010 so i made sure to log into Youtube to down-vote that announcement video (the dislikes are way over 9000) to make my voice as a consumer heard.

PC: XCOM 2 GotY should come to consoles too, Insomniacs' Cthulhu-esqe Edge of Nowhere looks dope and another year of the promised VR future was shown. Ok but does Microsoft even know that the PC does games too? Running Windows into the ground is a full time job tough... Dat Windows 10 better be good mad .

Sony: Was the darling of the ball by a hairs breath even if all these bonus skins / extras are marketing nonsense only. Who besides me actually knows of Shenmue (2 is way better then 1) but i will get it of course, The Last Guardian can finally come out or fade away and Guerrilla was finally allowed to leave the Killzone slave pits with the intriguing Horizon: Zero Dawn. I am ok with my Vita being a PS+ machine only as Sony at least tried.

Square Enix: I will buy nearly every non iOS game shown with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided leading the charge and the later proposed FF VI (2D or just like III/IV if possible) remake would be baller as it is the 2nd best one in the series. I have written an eulogy to FFVII and SE in here btw. as SE is back on track and then some.

(Tom Clancy's) Ubisoft: Presents more Tom Clancy but do kidZ even know that he was a writer? All sorts of functioning sequels look really functioning and it took me 5 minutes to figure out that South Park The Fractured but Whole is a gaping joke. Lol.
For Honor though has me really stoked and the latest trend of E̶A̶ Ubi web bashing is frankly unjustified.

The Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain trailer was mesmerizing and should wash out the GZ aftertaste for good even if i won´t get ZoE 3 or a dignified entry to the Silent Hill franchise unless Trolljima is a bigger magical then Copperfield. He sure lived hard.
The Walking Dead: Michonne should be followed up with one about Jesus.
Persona 5, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness (it may be the worst written long running J-RPG franchise btw.) and the not shown Tales of Berseria lastly need to be the final round of PS3 developed games as the comparable Xbox 360 is 2005 tech and that can´t fly in 2016. Get it together Japan as the success of the PS4 concerns you too!
(I live next to Gamescom btw. but that will be a streaming session too as such convention are only wort it from a press perspective.)

Who beside you knows of Shenmue? Beside about half of gamer fanatics of the world? You do realize that the kickstarted project broke speed records on how fast they got the money flowing, right?
Quote
Shenmue 3 has become the fastest videogame to raise $1million in pledges on a crowdfunding platform. The much-anticipated instalment in the landmark RPG series took just 1 hour 42 minutes to reach the milestone on Kickstarter, smashing the previous record of 6 hours 5 minutes set by Torment: Tides of Numenera in 2013.

Youtube is filled with reaction videos where whole movie theaters are going nuts over the holy trinity of The Last Guardian, FF VII R and Shenmue 3. Adam Boyes had that cheeky little moment when he was wrapping up his segment, listing out the 3 long dreamed games. Heck, he even tweeted that list afterwards.

The E3 as a whole did bring a whole lot of interesting stuff on the table. Horizon: Zero Dawn was easily the game of the show for me. Beside that, my games/announcements of interest were Nier 2, FF VIIR, TLG, Sea of Thieves, SW: Battlefront, Just Cause 3, Kingdom Hearts 3, Dark Souls 3, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Deus Ex: MD. XCOM2 didn't need selling, I've waiting for it with baited breath right after it was first announced.. well, actually before that, when it was just being teased in that marketing website before the official announcement.

Kickstar is incapable of funding games with an actual budget as the bulk of the money will need to come from the developers own pockets or in this case Sony so Guinness can state as many statistics as they want. The projects page is even a mess of it´s own but that is understandable and Kickstarter is more of a tool to gage public interest then anything. Enough of the games (or Veronica Mars) that come out on the other end straight out prove that most publisher who originally rejected the products had a point...
I am 100% pro Kickstarter if proven creators are involved and were are even talking gaming royalty here. The game won´t further cost another 70 mil. roll eyes (in 1999 money no less) this time and Shenmue 2 was probably a bigger flop as sales figure are further unknown here but i was there on the day the Dreamcast was stabbed 23 times and at least half of them were done by the hubris of Yu Suzuki as Segata Sanshiro cried on.
The game will make money of course and may lead to more as it has a 15 year old legend on it´s back and i like the 2nd one but expect a Heavy Rain/Yakuza here and nothing else.
I give E3 2015 a B+ btw. Just Cause 3 deserves to sell big (their Mad Max should work too) and Adam Boyes was on special pills of the kind only Ubi gives out on that day.
Shuhei Yoshida is the man though and Microsofts showing was nearly as good as none should be proud of the Last Guardian´s journey so far (this is comming form a big Ico fan) and FFVII is incapable of staying on the PS4. I don´t even want it too.

Uhh, yes? It was obvious from the start that the whole point of the kickstarter was to gauge public interest and get the fans asking after the 3rd installment to put their money where their mouths were. The kickstarter page mentions that they will get funding from elsewhere and Sony has also stated that they will be giving both funds and marketing help since it met the initial $2M goal. Igarashi's Bloodstained was much of the same.

The whole point of that part of my post was to indicate that Shenmue is hardly an unknown game. It has a massive cult following. Peanuts in the AAA market numbers, perhaps, but still enough folks to pile several million dollars on the pile in a matter of days. The budget share of the public funding VS funding from other sources is irrelevant in that regard.

Certainly, but there are these kinda cool games like Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, Divinity: Original Sin, Shadowrun Returns(especially Dragonfall) and Elite: Dangerous, all of which exist today thanks to KS funding. Painting everything with the broad brush of "the pubs know what they are doing" is hardly the ultimate truth.

Yeah, Boyes said that part right there on-stage during the reveal. "First on PS4" is straight out saying that it will be on other platforms later on.

KS helped to give me (not gave) Broken Sword 5 amongst others you listed and all are fine B level games. Some as Shadowrun Returns would never exist if KS wasn´t a platform but such cases are the exception to the rule as the last great darling Broken Age was incapable of being financed through the service. The DF documentary perfectly showed the flaws in the system as the sky is the limit attitude of the team nearly broke (hehe) them so i see the service as a viable way to get "also ran" games and more realistically comebacks out of the door and nothing else with the current model. B level games are less frequent due to budgets and even expectations these days so that is fine but the art/commerce balance helped to give us some of the best art of all time and there is nothing wrong with having the big brother of a publisher breathing down a teams neck but i deliberately said most as these can turn form Capcom to Crapcom. I am thus really curious to see how the drama surrounding Konami will turn out but don´t you worry my finish brother.
I was a bit of a Sega kid and we will both be hunting sailors but KS shouldn't have been involved here so i back the backlash articles regarding Shenmue that started to spread as the service isn´t there yet and only proper criticism and investigative journalism will push it over the edge. Remember Silicon Knights roll ?

I will now predict that FFVII will launch 3 months later on the Xbox with the PC version coming out 3-6 months after that. Maybe as a GotY as it will drown in DLC.
That the NX won´t be gimmick driven. (One can dream right?) That the Xbox won´t catch up to the PS4 even if the the numbers will become even stronger.
And that God of War 4 will open up the conference and that they will at least try to get Crash back. If this show proved anything to me is that c̶o̶c̶a̶i̶n̶e̶ nostalgia is a hell of a drug.
See you next E3 as Geralt home planet needs me but i am sad that none really fucked up as i do love me some Ridge Racer (the game was good btw).

You know, this might actually happen. There are some underground rumblings about the Crash Bandicoot license. It is entirely possible that it will surface within the next two years.
