I need to know how much of a difference is the novel compared to the manhwa?

Like is it a completely different story route? Or is it just following the novel but creating its own dynamic to the situations that our main characters are facing?

Do all the characters in the webtoon even exist in the novel?

I need to know these things before deciding to read the novel.

The novel is better.
Why you ask? The webtoon doesn't build up the story very well. Yea, most of the characters are present in both and the basic story is the same however...
There is this chicken character that has to have sex all the time. In the webtoon it's made that instead of sex he need to eat all the time... Talk about let down -.- It is not only this example - everything is made suitable for 10 yo. Personally I had trouble understanding what the heck was going on before I tried the novel.

Wow, I had no idea that addiction to food could be replaced with addiction to sex.
Now I'm really curious what other scenario they changed. Okay, I'm kinda convinced.

Also, is the main character in the webtoon overall the same as the one in the novel?
Does he really see that rabbit carrot girl as just a sister from the get-go?
Does his father really secretively warn his teachers to take care of his son.

And how long did it take you to catch up to the latest chapter?
Thanks for your view point. It really helps.

MC is pretty much the same. Just there are more details about his thoughts and motivations. He sees the rabbit girl like a sister yes, however we all know where this will finish.
Mind you, Soul Land isn't my favorite novel. I don't like how violent are the characters at time and the fight scenes are a tad too detailed for my taste. Still it presents a pretty unique world comparing with some of the other popular novels so it is worth the time to check it out.

PS: Forgot about the father - yes he appears the same as in the webtoon.

rhin made some great points so I'm just going to add on b/c the novel is vastly superior to the manwha (although the manwha is still enjoyable). Besides all of the extra characters that are cut out or the deeper explanations of what is going on, the worst part for me from the manwha is
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
the scene where the Shrek students use Tang San's crossbow weapon and shoot the competitors from the arena (on their way to get the silver badges). In the manwha they wake up like everything is all good, but in the novel the Shrek students all kill the Savage team (I think that's their name?). Tang San's Grandmaster wanted the students to understand the value of life and what it means to kill someone b/c they live in a dangerous world and if you let your guard down b/c of shock over killing someone you could get killed yourself. It was violent, but a very important lesson that made a lot of sense and the manwha butchered that scene and made the whole thing nonsensical.
