So, for the first two seasons of Crepuscule (since that's how Webtoons are classified), the count was successive, in contrast with webtoons like Tower of God and Kubera, which "reset" their counters when a new season of the Webtoon started (for example, when Kubera began its second season, its 101st chapter overall wasn't counted as that, but instead was counted as "v2 Ch 1").

Now, with the third season of Crepuscule, the chapter count is being handled like those aforementioned series. Ergo, since even if a newly released chapter is the 164th chapter total, it's being counted as v3 Ch1, and therefore, won't show up properly when an update occurs. The only real way to "fix" this is to set your manga list to be sorted as latest update comes at the top and watch like a hawk for Crepuscule to move in the list, which is greatly inconvenient. Is there a way to fix this so:

A: The new chapters of season 3 are added to the count (164, 165, etc)?
B: Each new season resets the chapter count (Season 2 Ch 12 is v2 ch12)?

Thanks.

Go ask Lone Manga to fix their numbering scheme first, then we'll fix ours

Why should they change their numbering scheme? Isn't it fine?

Why not just add "v.1" to chapters 1-81(+epilogue) and "v.2" to chapters 82-163.5? Wouldn't that fix the problem?
IIRC, only chapters without volume numbers show up on lists as being newer than the ones with.

That isn't quite what SNaG21 wanted

Isn't it, though?
It seems to me it's basically the same thing as his option "B".

--edit--
Or should I rather say "the result would be the same".

Well, it would be if it it would reset the chapters. For example, what you're proposing would be like most manga on the site and it wouldn't register volume 3 that has reset its chapter count. I was thinking like how other Webtoons do it that full on reset their counts. If it doesn't do one of the two options I laid out, AFAIK, then the counter won't work adequately for me. It'll just say the last chapter of Season 2 is the recently updated one.

Alright, thanks for the advice, I'll work it on that end.

Well, other webtoons don't really get a chapter reset - it's just that they all have "volume numbers" aka seasons in their release numbering.

Chapters without volume numbers are treated as the newest ones, so "(no volume) chapter 2" will always be seen as being newer than "volume 2, chapter 3", etc.
That's why I proposed adding volume numbers 1 and 2 for the respective seasons, since that should take care of the problem at hand.

Usually we follow the original numbering of the publisher or the scanlator numbering here on MU.

The original raws for Crepuscule (Yamchi) reset their counter after every season. The scanlators of season 2 counted consecutively, so we adopted that. Both scanlator and publisher reset their counter in season 3, though, and there you have the current numbering.

Unilaterally introducing new numbering systems is not really a solution in my opinion. That's why lamb proposed to contact Lone Manga.

Yep. A lot of series as Princess have similar problems so you will have to tough it out and create a custom list for such hard to track series as i did. (Or for groups that fail MU´s guidelines.) C'est la vie.

I contacted the Lonemanga admin and s/he said that I can put in a request to get the chapter numbers changed. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on that...?

I think (s)he referred to submitting a change request via your User CP, which is similar to posting here in the Suggestion forum, and which would mean (s)he rejected your proposal and passed the buck right back to us.
And as we respect the scanlator's wishes here on MU, I don't think your request here will be granted, and you (and me too, btw.) will have to put up with that inconvenience.

Of course, it's possible that I've not done my reseach well enough and that they do have a request function somewhere on their site, too, in which case you'd have to forget what I've just written, go back there, put in your request, get your desired change and hopefully come back here to deliver the good news. wink

No good news, unfortunately. The scanlator refuses to change the numbering system.

Then we're sticking with the current numbering

So, um... I don't claim to know why, but instead of giving me a notification of "Chapter 163" like it's been doing, it's now giving me a notification of "Chapter 15," the current updated chapter.

Whatever, I'll take it.
