We had 163 people who nominated the Best Shounen series! Each person was allowed up to 5 nominations, and they gave 208 unique series. One Piece basically automatically wins this one (which is also what happened 6 years ago) since almost 30% of the people nominated it for being the best. So in the interest of making the poll more intense, it's not one of the choices anymore!

Here are the series that got a lot of nominations but didn't quite make the cut:
Yotsubato!
Barakamon
Death Note
Kubera
D.Gray-man
Haikyu!!
Mahou Tsukai no Yome
Slam Dunk
Fairy Tail

If you're curious what happened 6 years ago:
One Piece - votes: 4138 (28.5%)
Fullmetal Alchemist - votes: 3455 (23.8%)
Death Note - votes: 2917 (20.1%)
Great Teacher Onizuka - votes: 2180 (15%)
Claymore - votes: 1812 (12.5%)
There were 14502 total votes.
The poll ended: September 5th 2009

You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)
http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?tid=3903

Previous Poll Results:
Question: If manga or novels were to be released freely online legally but was paid for by non-intrusive ads, would you support them by clicking on the ads?
Choices:
No, ad-blocker all the way - votes: 2788 (32.8%)
Yes, I'd click them all the time - votes: 733 (8.6%)
Yes, I'd click them once per chapter - votes: 2036 (24%)
Yes, but very seldom - votes: 2937 (34.6%)
There were 8494 total votes.
The poll ended: September 12th 2015

If you look at the order of the votes, they're in increasing order of more ads

Y-Yotsubato didn't make it? D:
And neither did GTO?
T______________T

Fine, my vote goes to Horimiya then. >____>;

As Rurouni Kenshin isn´t on the list i will go with the only other 10/10 on the list Fullmetal Alchemist but i expect Attack on Titan to win.
(I hope that the listed Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Horimiya and Pandora Hearts will show how fluid or nonsensical demographics are as most assume that these are girls manga.)

The time of GTO and Yotsubato is over but i expected Death Note to just make the cut and i disagree with One Piece´s exclusion even if i just dropped it after 14 years.

Although FMA2003 is my favorite anime, I'm not that fond of the original work ( and the FMAB either ). Same thing with HxH, the 1999 anime being my second favorite, unlike the manga.

I'm unsure what's a shounen or not and I don't really have a defined list, but I'd say Kekkaishi is my favorite along with Pandora Hearts which I voted for.

I don't believe Shingeki no Kyojin will win - although, it might if it was another website -, but it seems that FMA really is popular.

As a non-Shounen reader, the only one that I have any interest in is Attack on Titan.

By the way, is One Piece really that good? I know it isn't as popular in Japan as it once was.

where's boku no hero academia?
that thing has such strong potential to be number one and its not slowing down yet.

on this list though, fullmetal alchemist, as it did not overstretch itself like everything else seems to.

Well....Fullmetal Alchemist will most likely win...But, Attack On Titans have some chance as well.
lambchopsil, bro, though this poll is based on people's choice/nomination, I think it would've been great if you hadn't mixed the ongoing and complete ones.
I mean FMA is winning because of some pros, which some of the other Mangas' on the list don't have. Being a "Complete" one is one of those reasons.

oh, yes, one piece is that good, the only arc that i thought dragged so far was the sky island one, otherwise, if i remember right, its the only one of the long running shonen mangas that has a full outline of whats going to happen, at least in terms of broad strokes, were as naruto only had till the end of the first arc, or bleach which should have stayed a mild adventure manga for a few more volumes but they rushed the soul society arc and had no idea what to do next, or in the case of another manga the author just wanted a series that had 500 chapters so they kept stretching it as long as they could...

you either die the hero or live long enough to be the villain, that can apply here.
naruto went on way to long, and if it was between one piece and fma today, i would go fma because there is no piece of it where i was thinking hurry the hell up, like i was with the sky island arc in one piece.

as for attack on titan, i just dont understand the appeal. i see it the same way that i saw gantz, and i wont make that mistake again.

That is factually wrong and One Piece is still beating Titan on a per volume sales basis too. (I look at weekly sales charts for manga and monthly for comics so trust me).
There are a few issues of US comics as the first one of the 2nd 90s X-men comic that sold more copies than any volume of One Piece but it´s fair to say that One Piece is the most successful comic of all time when the length is considered and factors as movie adaptations aren´t factored in. A slight stagnation certainly took place but one can only humanly sell so many copies and the print runs are only going up too while setting world records. DC/Image/Marvel would murder to have their books sell as well as it and the rest of the manga big boys are making the US sales charts look like a joke sad .
I started in 2001 and the series used to be a steady 7/10 till the time jump happened in 2010. The storytelling, the roles of female characters, way too many characters clones or even characters in general made me give up and the designs frankly fall off a cliff. It is also humanly impossible to hold on to quality for that long and on a weekly basis on top.
I wouldn´t say that it has become unreadable but i have only been flipping pages for years so i had to stop and i am only coming back for the last volume as the time jump only marks the half way point. Let´s not kid ourselves though. The series will go on in a form as long as SJ exist as money never sleeps and my library copies of it are in constant rotation too.
Wait a minute. Dragon Ball (the 2nd biggest manga of all time) is missing in any form. We really are a piracy site that only cares about new and shiny things aren´t we...

Voted for Alchemist, but feel kinda bad about it. Because it is not one of my favorite shounens, even if you exclude One Piece (which is one of my favorites)
Alchemist is the one that I like more from the list, but i voted 9.8/10 for it. 10/10 shounens for are the following (in not particular order, I even excluded seinens, because I know the difference):

Full Metal Panic!
GE
Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai
Shijou Saikyou no Deshi Kenichi
Tasogare Otome x Amnesia
To Love-Ru
Hayate no Gotoku!
Maoyuu Maou Yuusha
One Piece (I know that it "besides One Piece" but whatever)
Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Kinsho Mokuroku
Tower of God
Witch Hunter
Ef - A Fairy Tale of the Two
Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi
Pastel

Though i do admit that I didn't even know about Horimiya before this poll started. And judging by description I might actually like this manga, so I will try it.

Wow, there are actually some great series here. I can't decide which one to vote for! HunterxHunter is great, so is PH, Shingeki no Kyoujin, FMA and Kuroshitsuji... Though I guess the last one can be excluded because I can't stand Ciel, his girl, or practically any of the characters except for Agni and his prince, and really read the story only for Sebastian and the mysteries. And I won't got for FMA because most people will vote for it, no need to jump on that bandwagon.

But from PH, HxH, and SnK... Agghhh, I'll decide the day before the poll ends, like I always do when there's a tough choice eyes

Pity about Yotsubato, DN and Barakamon, though.

I don't know how I'm factually wrong. I said that One Piece is less popular than it once was, and looking at the manga sales in Japan, One Piece sales have been down over the past 4 years. But sales overall are down, so that may not mean much. And I never said Titan was beating it in sales.

I feel like there might be a tendency with longer running series for fans to keep supporting it because it once was really good, and they are hoping for it to get back there.

Black Butler and Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun are shounen manga? I very much disagree with that. Both feel like made to appeal to women as the primary demographic but that's just my opinion. I can see them as appealing equally to both genders at older demographics
