I'm having a hard time finding action manga I haven't read that aren't sports, harem, rpg-leveling, or medieval/warring states mangas. (either I'm sick of the type or I have a long backlog of them that I haven't found motivation to read)

Maybe I've exhausted all my options, or maybe I'm just not looking in the right places?

Do you guys have any suggestions?

No yaoi/yuri/shounen ai/novels, please.

mu2020 picked a winner. The near perfect Shi ga Futari o Wakatsu Made alone leads to half a dozen (vastly inferior) in universe stories and how many Chanbara tales do we have again? A few hundred in the least of which Azumi, Rurouni Kenshin, Kamui Gaiden or Vagabond stand out. Supernatural tales as Dorohedoro counts and what you are searching for is the norm and not an exception. Look up how these are tagged or look into my links below.
The beast way to see world class action would be to watch Asian action films as Police Story or The Raid which wipe the floor with what can be done in the west.
Edit: Sci-Fi tales as Gantz or Terra Formars are very common too.

Do fantasy worlds count as medieval to you? In any case, I've placed such ones under the 'Fantasy World' segment. And by warring state, do you mean medieval wars? Or all types of wars? Some of these might not be technically Action, but they do contain some elements of action mangas.

Wow, that's a long list! There's a bunch in there that I haven't tried.
Fantasy can be not medieval.
What I had in mind with warring states was military strategist/politics, so not necessarily medieval wars.
I'm ok with incomplete manga, if you do end up making an incomplete list that would be greatly appreciated!
