We have decided that for novel releases, we are only allowing full chapter releases to be listed. No more of this chapter 3e-f stuff. Only submit the release once the entire chapter 3 is completely translated. This mainly affects groups like Baka-Tsuki, NanoDesu, and the smaller a0132.

For releases that are currently in the middle of a full chapter, we will allow you to complete the chapter with partial release listings. For example, the series Meiyaku no Leviathan (Novel) currently is on vol 3, ch 3a. You can submit a release for 3b and 3c; but once you get to ch4, you can only submit the release entry once the entire chapter has been translated.

This policy only affects novels and not manga, manhua, or manhwa. Policy is effective immediately.

thank you! I think that this is a very helpful policy. it was annoying how one was unable to keep track of chapters with all those 3a, 3b, etc.

Yeah, and I just hated how messy it looked. It was really getting out of hand since there's so many Novels on here now.

Are there any exceptions?

An example would be Douluo Dalu (Novel) (and the continuation). Since the original Web Novel is in chapter parts released seperately, and numbered with chapter x part y. (Another example would be Shen Yin Wang Zuo (Novel) but the translator renumbered that one.)

Sounds good to me. While I support listing novel updates here, that was more than a little ridiculous.

Stop posting "novel" releases all together, I say. Doesn't really fall under the manga category w/out pages full of panels.

Thats quite selfish point of view I would say... I mean you can just hide the novel releases from releases page if you dont want to see them yourself, but there are many other users that mainly use the site for novels only.

Can we get a tic box for BLOCKING Novel releases? I'm not about to ever read a novel translated by amatuers, hell the official translations are horrible enough.

I am okay with this.

Even though I'm a big novel reader, I will agree that without the filter, the releases page is bit out of hand.

Douluo Dalu is a great example of why it shouldn't be done in parts. Tang Jia San Shao releases his works in chapter parts but they really are just parts of a whole chapter (usually), if released as parts Douluo Dalu 1 & 2 would be about 1500 releases each. He does that because he releases them pretty much non-stop and they are almost the length of a normal novel chapter (usually about 16 pages for douluo dalu). I've read SYWZ releases and while they are done well the chapters seem a bit disjointed and start and stop abruptly when viewed as parts.

this is what I call an improvement.
I was annoyed with all the a, b, c,d, etc.
Full chapter that's how it needs to be.

I dislike these on everything, except when it is actually up to date and that's how the original is being released.

Why are you letting people post releases for part of a manga chapter?

As a stopgap you can try https://www.mangaupdates.com/releases.html?page=1&ex clude_type=Novel .

However, such a URL syntax is only useful if you want to hide a single category.
If for example you don't want to see neither Manhua nor Manhwa, you'll have to wait for the developers to implement the feature...
