What is the best way to translate a dialect or accent of the original language that is not the norm (e.g., Kansai-ben)?
Different country's English accent (e.g., Irish or Australian)
Different American regional accent (e.g., Southern)
Have the character use different slang (e.g., 'pops' instead of 'dad')
Minor speech pattern differences (e.g., dropping the 'g' in '-ing' words)
No difference in translation but have a translation note

Probably around 2008 I started reading a manga, forgot the name of it, and have never been able to find it since. I think about it every once in a while...

Basically there's this kid who turns into a cannibal because there's this voice in their head telling them to. There is something about a cherry/plum blossom tree, and something about the more people they eat, the more petals it gains. Sorry, 7 y/o memories aren't that great...

Perhaps this rings a bell for anyone? Thanks for any help!
