This week's scanlation-related poll is from Nekomikoto. This is quite an interesting question, as I feel like fewer groups nowadays spend the time to redraw the missing stuff in the middle. In case you don't know 2 page spreads are, it's where the drawing spans over 2 pages in the original raw manga. Because of how the pages are printed, there's almost always a gap in the middle of the 2 pages where you have missing content, even if you de-bind a volume. So when you view a scanlation, what's your preference in how editors manage these spreads? (It usually doesn't affect officially released web-versions of manga since they have access to the original images from the publisher instead of being forced to scan a raw)
You can submit poll ideas here (and try to keep them manga/anime-related)

The upvoted norman normal options make sense and some are even trick options as transfer students can also transfer out but i went for the I'm rich bitch version and drove away in my imaginary Porsche before the "stereotypical" misery even began.
I picked no preference as i would need to see the pages to decide which format works best for them specifically but i would keep them together without a gap if i needed to pick one. The redraw versions sounds problematic as hell though.

Spreads may come in any of the flavour poll describes, but as an experienced cleaner/redrawer I simply can not let non-joined pages to be present in any release I work upon. Sometimes it's an enjoyable challenge, sometimes a mere annoyance.

Here's an example for you:
Together with no gap
Redrawn
(There are various differences at play between those images, but it should still serve to illustrate the impact redrawing the gap has on a spread.)
Redrawn 100%
C'mon don't be lazy. I've redrawn every spread that's come my way, and I've had some real problematic ones before, but I always felt it was worth it. It looks so much nicer.
I get it if it's a speed release or the group is particularly bothered about the quality, but I like to see them properly joined overall.

Keep each page as a separate image, since i read most of my stuff on tablet and rotating it or zooming just for 2 pages is a pain

As a reader I totally prefer the middle redrawn but as a (sometimes) editor I know what a bitch that can be to do. So either redrawn or gap in the middle if it's in the too hard basket (I'm looking at you Shoujo - no one needs that much hair seriously)

Of course I prefer a redrawn spread, but if it's not possible, I want to at least see both pages with a gap. As a scanlator, I've come across spreads that I was unable to redraw due to unfortunate manga debinding. Sometimes you're just unsure of how stuff is supposed to look, so it's best to leave a gap. At least in my opinion.
Leaving a gap is preferable to putting them close together and having them misaligned. It can be very apparent and ugly.
Not plugging the name of the manga? For shame!
It's Jacaranda, for anyone who wants to know. ;p

As my first and foremost preference I would ask to, Keep them together and redraw the gap in the middle.
But, I don't want to be too demanding. As in most case when a Redrawer isn't available, just Keep them together but leave a gap in the middle. That way it's pretty understandable for reader, at least for me.
I believe it would be still better than holding up a series, waiting for redraws.

I have being stealing comics on the web years before MU existed and manga aren´t the only ones being scanlated or at least ripped by a long mile. I even knew of Jacaranda but i still don´t care for redraws one way or the other.
My preferred method is how the how the A level US rippers do it with their 2nd versions of the big book. Or most importantly classics that get the "Absolute" treatment. They wait for the TPBs and then take the bookbinding apart. They then line up the pages as is and first give you both together as one file and then both separately before continuing on.
This gives you the freedom to decide which one you keep in the cbr file and they certainly wouldn´t mess with the "fearful symmetry" of a Watchmen.
The More human than human version is going to win but will most online viewer users (aka. most leechers) actually care in the very end when they move on to the next page of the mid-res version? Is all the time really worth it? Do what you want dear scanlators as i only care about your translations. I can always get the version of the art i want on my own.
The net is vast and infinite after all and we could use a poll regarding sound effects which could prove divisive if framed correctly.
How to edit manga with Photoshop is a handy how to if anyone cares.

I'm fine as long as it's not misaligned or separate, so basically leave a gap or redraw. I don't really have preference between redraw and leaving a gap.

ideally redraw but if not, gap in the middle. I honestly don't mind if there is a gap in the middle but it also depends on the scene.

Redrawn sure is ideal, but if it's too hard maybe leaving a gap in the middle will do justice mmm...

Seeing as I am a cleaner, and I redraw the gaps when a wild DPS appears, I get somewhat annoyed if it isn't redrawn. In saying that, I can tolerate a white gap between pages IF it is aligned (and I let me imagination do the rest), but side by side and clearly unaligned or still two separate pages then... I will run into the corner and cry :'(

Personally I prefer to have everything except "Keep them together and put them side by side even if they don't line up". If it being redrawn isn't possible that's understandable though, but I prefer having it with the gap so I can at least glance over it quickly and let my mind make something up and also each page separately so I can take the time to take in the art of both (if the art is detailed).
