Why do people still enjoy reading this webtoon? Literally the exact same thing happens every arc with different characters. The first two times were good but by the sixth or seventh time i cant help but be annoyed.

Mmmm........well, for one thing, "still reading" and "still enjoy reading" aren't necessarily the same things, right? I'm sure a lot of people do indeed still enjoy reading it, but I'm also pretty sure that a lot of people are like me......and maybe you......in that they have the exact same feeling/criticisms as you're voicing, but still keep reading.........I mean, that's just how serials work, they get you hooked, not just on the story, but on the repetitive nature of how it's presented. You continue to read it because, well, they got you hooked on the characters and now just keep giving them to you with no "end" in sight.

It's okay still I guess, but it's as you say, it really is just typical (in this respect) shounen style.....a "story" mainly bent on running just as long as it possibly can rather than getting to an actual ending. It's essentially what used to be known as a "soap opera" where I'm at......like a daytime television serial targeted at homebound housewives and half-baked college students in between classes, giving them the same established, well-liked characters constantly, indefinitely written into "new" story lines.

Yeah, the main goal here isn't "telling a story", but perpetuating the franchise......you just keep reading because that's what you've always done, or you finally get bored of it/grow out of it smile

I stopped reading it a few month ago, but got curious and read a couple of the latest chapters - yup, same old plot. Reminded me of Bleach, but worse.

To each their own, I guess.
I still enjoy reading it, and even on my review of the series, I noted that it was difficult to explain why I liked it, I just do.

For example, there are a few series that I hardly see any complains about, yet I can't bring myself to like them.

okay, so I'm the kind of person that drops a series once it becomes boring. I'm still reading noblesse, and anjoying it, though. Why? Because although the plot does suck and the people who criticize it are completely right about it, I never read Noblesse for the plot. I read it for the characters, their interactions and development, and for the comedy that always makes me laugh (I've read some chapters more or less 5 times and they still make me snort with laughter. Its humour is that compatible with me). I couldn't care less about the plot. I guess it just depends on what you're looking for in your entertainment.

Mmmm, yup, to each their own of course, but I do find it an interesting point that your avi, from Annarasumanara.... a title I, and many others, consider to be one of the absolute best examples of the Korean webtoon medium there is.....was able to tell its story in less than 30 chapters.

Whenever I think of titles like it, I find the comparison to some of the multi-hundred chapter behemoths (like Noblesse) kind of dumbfounding.

Noblesse is the only manga I am currently reading and I still enjoy it. Sure the enjoyment is not on same level as it was for the first three seasons (till Ch.200) when the comic was at its strongest.

I enjoy Noblesse because of its two awesome main characters. For a shonen series they are more than unique.

I love seeing Frankenstein getting berserk and torturing his opponents. I enjoy seeing Frankenstein being tame is front of his Master and than the complete change in personality when his Master isn't around...

I love seeing Rai being OP. His silent personality is such a cool trait compared to other shonen where main character never keeps his mouth shut.

I also like how main characters do not hesitate to kill the enemies. In other shonen there is a lot of preaching on killing enemies but honestly thats just dumb.

your point is...?
why would you compare them both? Annarasumanara is one of my absolute favourites, with excellent everything (plot, characters, development, art... it is indeed one of the best examples of the medium there is), will always be very dear to me, and whatever Ha Il-Kwon writes, I read, the man is a brilliant artist and storyteller and has one hell of a sense of humour.
However, I don't see how loving one and enjoying the other are mutually exclusive. Just because Annarasumanara is excellent doesn't mean Noblesse isn't good.

I still read it because the core draw of the series hasn't really faded. While the structure of the various arcs are indeed pretty repeating (though I'd argue the current one is actually a bit different), there is an overall plot that has been moving forward at a stable pace. The comedy portions still deliver some good stuff aaaand

All of this. I still read Shonen stuff along with other material and Noblesse fits a certain, slightly different flavor of such that keeps it relatively fresh.

Who are the RK Jobbers in this arc? As in, the group of relatively weak guys who take on superior opponents, likely in a group, and perform decently until being overwhelmed by X or Y. You know, since bolded.

Mmmm......it seems that you're being a little defensive about this, and I assure you there's no reason to be. As I mentioned earlier, I still read Noblesse as well.......seeing your avi just made me think of just how good a story can be without dragging it out forever is all.

There's really no reason to read more into a comment as innocuous as "I find it an interesting point" is there? smile

I see. I apologize then, I read your post as you going off track for no reason, comparing two things that are, in my opinion, different enough that enjoying one doesn't exclude enjoying the other, which was what seemed to me like you were suggesting. My bad then smile

I strong assumed that Noblesse and Bleach are followed by the same cult, as both managed to fall into the same pitfalls, and Baalzebup´s appearance 100% confirmed my assumption.
Holy shit am i happy that i quickly axed Noblesse many years ago. I made the mistake of dragging along Bleach for 50 volumes, that felt like 100 but read like 10.

No big deal, sorry if I was sounding catty about it biggrin

I suppose, to a degree, the reason I brought it up was that it's progressively become my belief that the majority of the Korean webtoons have begun, more and more, following this same, shounen-esque style of long, looong running "stories". Of course part of this might come from being in the English language audience and only/mostly knowing about what gets scanlated......but yeah, it just seems like all of 'em are trending that way now as compared to a handful of years ago when that was a comparative exception.

Yeah, finally put it on indefinite hold a chapter or two ago, I just couldn't abide yet one more "(fill in the blank again) has been kidnapped! We have to rescue him/her/them!!" arc >_<

Jeez, c'mon guys.
