I don't think it's ludicrous for someone to go to jail or get called a sex offender for having sex with a 15 or 16 year old. Unfortunately there are adults who purposely go for kids this young, because they are an easy lay and easy to manipulate. It's downright disgusting and you can't deny that most teenagers aren't anywhere near the same mentality as a full grown adult. It's not about the math, science, and all that bs. And you know, it's funny how you are for 15 year olds having sex with older people and yet you also referred to them as kids (which they are).

An 18 year old with a 16 or 17 year old is ok, but you can't tell me there is nothing wrong with someone that is, say 30 going after minors.

I dislike loli/shota if it's actually depicts children, but for some reason I'm fine if it's some ossan who looks young or some hundred year old vampire. Though I dislike censorship even more and drawings don't hurt anyone so I wouldn't want it banned.

The UN are a retarded thing, the fact they even ask that is proof loli and shota should exist. The UN should be dissolved as they are an useless entity.

While I voted
Quote
No, it's just fiction
I also should point out that can't really see myself reading it.

personal morals, no
objectively........................I'm letting it hang
adults who look loli....I find those stories strange. First is the whole tall-short thing. Next is that it's often fetishized. It's really the fetishization that makes it uncomfortable.

I'm settling with cognitive dissonance

I get what you're saying but practically every country in the world has already outlawed loli/shota (to some degree).

It doesn't do a goddamn thing about child abuse.

Action like this is nothing more than a way for politicians to score some easy political "WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!?"-points while attacking political opponents with "MY POLITICAL ENEMIES ARE CHILD RAPISTS!!!"

The age of consent should be 15 or 16 ( and if an adult molests somebody younger than that, they should be executed on TV.

Well. You win. I hope you're happy.

I voted no. Sexual fetishes have never really offended me unless they're inherently harmful + non-consensual or... extremely unsanitary. I know in the real-world there's things such as statutory rape, but from the loli/shota-like works I came across when I first started exploring manga, the "underage" characters were so unrealistic its hard to apply such standards to them.

It's not a just a political tactic, as the issue was brought up by the UN and not a Japanese politician. So this isn't some politician just trying to gain points with the public. This is someone outside of Japan saying "What's wrong with you Japanese people". So I can understand an argument that says a non-Japanese person shouldn't tell Japan how it should behave and what it's laws should be. But Japan has decided to be apart of the UN, so it has it's duty to live up to the UN's standards.

And the UN kind of has a point, as child pornography was only recently made illegal in Japan. Now making child porn illegal isn't going to magically erase all of the child porn that exists. Of course child abuse is always going to exist to some degree. But when it's legal, it sends the message that it's not that big of a deal. There will be people who realize that it's morally wrong, but can use the excuse of "but it's legal". Whereas if it's illegal, there's a bigger incentive for people not to do and risk going to jail.

But back to the point of manga, you have to wonder why loli and shota images are unacceptable in other countries, but are okay in Japan. I don't think it has anything to do with Japan being more liberal or more accepting of personal expression, as a woman was recently arrested on obscenity charges because of sending 3d printable data of her vagina.

It's just fiction. Ludicrous to compare it to real child porn... and yes I do occasionally read manga or hentai with loli. Judge me. While I may enjoy it, real stuff I find abhorrent and don't seek out.

Just like I enjoy driving over or killing peds in GTA but can't ever imagine punching some in real life for no reason. Not that I want to compare the two though.

And banning loli/shota just could lead to people seeking out more real stuff as I am pretty sure some or possibly many who are into that are also into the real thing

The UN has way better things to do than care about that stuff. Such as to track down the child porn rings or human trafficking or something.

If you are going with that logic science says the brain doesn't finish maturing until around 20 years of age so why not RAISE the age of consent law.

i believe that the age limit being 18+ is in place mostly so that educators, who are in close contact with kids up until that age, are deterred from having relationships with their students. abuse is all about power and with a teacher having authority over a student, it provides more chances for it.

i do agree that your friend should not have been arrested, though. i thought there were exemptions in place for people who are close in age like that? or is that by state?

Because nothing you said has anything to do with child abuse and everything to do with political points.

When Saudi Arabia heads a U.N. Human Rights panel and then chops off someone's hands for theft; no sane country would ever carte blanche follow the lead of another country, let alone the U.N.
