its been a LONG wait

The first 2016 issue of Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine is announcing on Friday that a new anime adaptation project of Kentarou Miura's Berserk manga has been green-lit.

Miura comments in the magazine that the anime project will depict Guts in his "Black Swordsman" appearance, which is only revealed in parts of the manga that go beyond any previously animated Berserk story, and is only briefly hinted at in the first and last episode of the 1997 television anime series. biggrin biggrin

Too bad the trailers have made it look like total ass. I'm going to check it out, but my hopes aren't really all that high for the quality of the product.

and the other threads in the manga´s main page weren´t enough, eh? Now to my opinion:
I started to change my tune on the TV anime as proper details started to emerge in the last few months and am now rewarded by a promo that actually resembles the manga. Hm. The low frame-rate is noticeable (and hardly avoidable) but the actual direction is very dynamic and downright exciting. I take choppy animation over glorified motion comics any day! I frankly have no idea how Berserk is supposed to work without Cgi on a midnight anime budget and would have also went with cell shaded 3D.
The high amount of previewed material may suggest a heavy amounts of montages but it may also suggest a high amount of properly covered ground. None of what i saw looked perfect but the OVA format is as dead as disco, so the (also imperfect) 90s anime my have found a worthy successor.
Cautious slow clap GEMBA, unless they will go for a definitive ending and only 24 eps.
The amount of suggested materiel can´t fit. Worry about that instead of nipples that were airbrushed out for a wide promo, or whatever.

Looking forward to seeing this arc get animated. I wasn't a huge fan of the original anime, but the movies were enjoyable, so I'm hopeful.
