My main point is I would like to create a scanlation group for people who wanted to try out scanlating but are too scared that their skills aren't up to par and wouldn't join an experienced group. So this scanlation group is for beginners only.
The main genre of this group is nothing. W̶e̶, I don't really care. It's more like pick a manga you would like to scanlate.

However,
my idea is that we would be with older groups. I don't really know how to put it in words but like cleaners, typesetters, and translators would "graduate". So if a more experienced group would like to take one of the cleaners, typesetters, or translators because they feel like one of them is "ready" then you're allowed. I, of course, am staying.
Let me describe it better.
Imagine a web, and this beginner scanlation group is at the center and it's branching out into different genres which then branches out into scanlation groups in those genres. It's not complicated.

BUT IT'S SO HARD TO DESCRIBE.

So if a good beginner cleaner prefers to clean shoujo manga while a good beginner typesetter prefers to typeset yaoi manga and they get even better later on. A scanlation group can contact me about taking cleaner but that scanlation group has to be a shoujo scanlation group because that cleaner wants to clean shoujo manga. But if a yaoi scanlation group wants a typesetter, they can "take" one because the beginner typesetter wants to typeset yaoi manga.

In addition if you want to maybe give a series to us because the beginners don't know which manga they want, then we'll take it. Or if you want a load off. Also, you wouldn't be low on staff as much.

I like your concept very much I would like to join your group..
I have worked for Gos.moe and easy scans but only did cleaning and typesetting never the less I would like to learn to redraw as i am a ''beginner'' in that please send me an email!

This is a really great idea! I hope this group works out. If it does (I really hope so, omg), I'd join as a cleaner or a redrawer. I absolutely have no experience in those and I would love to learn. Go for thiiiiis! (^o^)/

I think many groups are willing to accept beginners. At least maybe we are, or maybe we were.
The problem with beginners is that to many of them (like 70% in my experience) quit in middle of after the end of training period. Without a word. And that-s really disheartening and makes groups not wanting to take in beginners because they are not serious enough even less reliable.

Great project idea though. You can sign up our group, bunny's scans, as one of those picking up staff. We do BL tho. I'd consider training ppl or sharing our tutorials too, but like I said serious people only, one that can keep in touch (regardless if they end up working for us).
I guess that is as much as I can offer.

Groups without the "application" thing accept beginners, and are the ones who are actually fun to work with. It's a good idea I guess. But I mean most groups will put the training wheels on from day one. Also, how do you train a translator

This group is for beginners who haven't had the confidence in their skills or are intimidated by the group's experience as scanlators.

The best way is to have a proofreader that knows the language check your translation.

It is quite an interesting idea, a lot of people have reservations about participating in a scanlation group because of experience (since most scanlation page ads ask for experienced people).

I would take up a JP translator post but I'm not confident enough with the knowledge I have at the moment, the most important and delicate part of a group is the translator. Sometimes I spend too much time translating a single page, even with the help of dictionaries and machine translators, when the dialogues get too complex. But, if there is someone willing to give the aforementioned support, I would be willing to.

I even already have some (abandoned) manga with their raws in my list for (practicing the JP language) translation. PM if you have some use for me lol.

By the way, I don't normally use machine translators unless I need an idea to get myself unstuck with their random sentence formation XD.

My whole experience tells me that this isn't true. I've been on both ends of TLC, and it is generally not a good thing for anyone. It makes the TLer go lazy, and for the TLCer, it is a very tedious and ungratifying task. Very few J-E TLers are competent enough to TLC anyway.

So the answer is no, you can't train a translator.

I'd say that while it is hard or next to impossible to simply train a translator as you would an a typesetter, cleaner or other jobs that tend to be a bit more straightforward, I feel like someone with more experience serving as a guide or mentor can be an immensely edifying experience. Obviously, most of the "student's" efforts has to come from themselves, but I've personally learned a great deal from other translators more skilled than I am about how to approach the whole concept in general, together with various advice on certain (common) expressions.

I fully agree, though, it is easy to come to overly rely on a good proofreader or TLC, but an honest and diligent personality will get you so much further in the long run, anyway.

And yes, TLC'ing is a pain in the ass depending on the quality of the original translation.

hello hello hello. i want to try be a typesetter. but, i don't do photoshop cause it's hard to find the software. so, i usually used gimp. it's easier and the file also compatible. so, is it okay if i want to join?

Interesting idea, though like some said before most group are open for newbies, the problem is however 99% quits in the middle of the training. Then again, which quality are your group aiming for? True HQ groups have very high standards and will break 99.9% of newbies.
