I've never been this interested in a manga (if you can call it that before, but damn it I really want to invest in Robot. I say invest because I've seen this priced at like fifteen dollars!
So my questions to the readers of this series is basically what is the manga main theme? I know it's made by many awesome creators, but do the story follow a certain pattern, or they completely random.
I really would like to know if this is worth my blood money for, or is it burning a hole in my pocket for no reason?

I have the first five volumes in Traditional Chinese from Taiwan. They only cost about 8 bucks though. In my opinion, the books are well worth it, just for the full colors and the artbook feel. However, 15 bucks is a bit much, as the stories usually are pitifully short and some don't follow a constant narrative. But if you want something nice to put on your bookshelf, go for it.

I found this manga the second most lamest crap I've set my eyes on! Wtf is it anyways....it's not a story? It's mini chapters of meaningless garbage The artwork's great but wasted on it's content... my 2 cents

Robot is great stuff, definitely worth every penny. Sorry, but I have to laugh at your comment that 15 bucks is too much. You do know what you are buying right?
You get ~150-175 (depending on the volume) pages in FULL-Color and product dimensions of 11.7 x 8.3 x 0.6 inches (~double the usualy manga height) for $15 and you complain about that? wtf?!
In France a volume costs 23€ which currently is like ~$35 and you complain about $15?! You are stingy. $15 also amounts to 1 1/2 manga, which is a) not full colored b) has worse worse worse paper quality and c) is half the size... you still want to tell me that $15 is a lot for ROBOT?!
@Ningnomaningnong, you obviously bought ROBOT for the wrong reason. ROBOT never intended to be a normal manga, but instead wants to be something different than anything there was before. It lets the mangaka be experimental, let them try out new stuff, let them use colors and not only b/w art. Get some new mangaka to release their works and give them a platform to show themselves. Also you should note that some of these "one-shots" very well continue in the next volume (f.e. Dragonfly and Wasteland, Dragonfly even was compiled into tankobon form).
I think ROBOT is really worth its money (not that you couldn't have guessed that from my post), but you also don't buy a poem collection if you want to read a thriller right? So it all comes down to what you want to read, I love my five volumes.
