While it is very long, I don't think the quality of the series has diminished at all, which is amazing to say the least since it doesn't happen that often. The jokes are still fresh even after all this time and the scenes are just as heart wrenching as they were in the beginning. I haven't found myself thinking "wow, that is so forced..." yet. Not only that but the situations are ageless, I've been following this series since it first started being scanned 7 years ago and I still haven't outgrown it.

Of course, thats if you hold off reading the chapters for a while so you can have a nice build up to sink into, the chapters are released so infrequently that it lose most of the tension if you read them month to month as they get released. I try to hold off until a min. of a volume worth gets released.

Actually I like the pace it's going at, nothing is fast and they fall in love within 3-8 volumes like in some other manga when that happens its always feels crappy or fake and I'm always thinking thats too fast! here I think it's going at a decent rate it feels realistic too. I can honestly say I've liked all the chapters that I've read even though some arcs maybe longer than I wished to me the whole series is re-readable and I won't get tired of rereading it over and over. What I love most is that you get to see the characters grow, I'll take a long series with a decent pace and character growth making things more realistic and people connecting to characters, than a short series where the characters seem to be suddenly in love and can't see any character growth and leave no lasting impressions on people.

Yeah, actually I'm annoyed of Ren's past. I think it's important but I'm stressed of half-flashbacks. I miss so much Shotaro and the Beagle, they make the story spicy, also the storyline was the vengeance of Kyoko, but where is it? There are tons of chapters without it, we need a love triangle and some jerks to make fun!

Yes yes yes a thousand times yes. I dropped this series years ago after I got fed up with it going absolutely nowhere, and I come back to check on it today to see that it's doubled in length and is still ongoing.

I would be more accepting if anything would happen, but you can go 20 volumes with absolutely no progress in the relationship, considering how much release time it spans. Everything is so stale that it's a chore to read it.

There is no excuse. Somebody needed to mercy kill Skip Beat 10 volumes ago.

She forgave sho? wut? ...I must have missed it, sorry.

The reason why sho shouldn't have that much influence on her should be easy to understand. If she forgets about him then she will hold no place for him in her heart, meaning he's nothing to her. That would be a great revenge from her and a huge blow to Sho who's fallen for her.

You may think that Kyoko may end with Sho but I'm quite sure Ren got lots of things to say about that..heh.

Btw I want Kyoko's mother to visit soon...

Skip beat is a manga about revenge and acting....and trumas...sadly too many and it may take a long time for the author to finish this manga since we have only touched Kyoko's scar on the surface, while she's still fighting with becoming an actor.
The ones we touched so far and is still going for is Ren, since the role he took up himself. Working in out with his father, passing his father...well now it's time for his inner demons, I guess.
Sho...I dun think that bastard got any traumas...shithead should just die biggrin

Annoyed...I'm only annoyed it's taking long for chapter to come out, heh. Otherwise I still like Skip Beat...though not as much as Glass Mask which focus much more on acting and traumas than love.

It is getting a bit stale now, specially because of ren. He's dragging on way too much, and even if kyoko leaves an opening, he always turns away from it. Makes it seem like it will take them another 10 years just to say something remotely romantic to each other, which really irritates me. But I still like skip beat a lot, and the jokes are still as good as ever. Even if for the moment the story isn't going anywhere, I like keeping a tab on it every time a new chapter comes.

well we get it for free.....wen ppl in japan and the generous subbing group pay for it ......so no complains....the fact is even though ppl criticize it they are still reading on smile

the author has no obligation to please anybody.....i picked it up again aftr some time....the comedy is good though the setting seems a bit old...maybe just me

I've been reading what you guys wrote here and I have to say I both agree and disagree...
Why? Because reading chapter by chapter once every 15-20 days can be boring, tiring and it may seem like the story is dragging.
On the other hand, reading it in a few days, like I did, will make you see the story is as fresh as ever. So my advice: stop reading for a longer period, forget about it if you can bigrazz
And return to it when a consistent no. of chapters gathered. It's the only way to enjoy any ongoing series in my opinion.
Another choice would be reading so many that you have a new manga/anime realease everyday of the week

So...whatever your decision is, don't blame it on the mangaka bigrazz She does a great job with this series, but she can't release a chapter every few days smile wink grin

I really do not like how the romance is done. We get to see Ren tortured over Kyoko but we never get to see Kyoko tortured over Ren. We get to see him worry and to know he cares. With Kyoko it's like everything is kept vague. You could say that that is because she swore off love but why not show internal conflicts over her growing feelings for Ren? We know more about Ren's feelings for Kyoko than Kyoko's feelings for Ren and she's the main character. none Maybe the author is just going to reveal it now. For me it's too late. The bad taste is already left.

Chapter 170:
Spoiler (highlight to view)
So now she is realizing she loves him. It feels sudden. With Ren it was done well. It did not feel sudden or rushed. He had some internal drama as well. With Kyoko it feels like it came out of nowhere because there was no hints and internal drama. It was kept very vague. At most you might see a blush or a smile. I don't think that's fair when we had to see Ren being all emotionally tortured and with Kyoko it's just BAM. It's like it was always building up but for whatever reason she didn't show it. Probably to keep the Sho, Reino, etc fans around and keep ppl wondering "what if." As a result Ren's love feels stronger.

This is just my opinion. I just don't like how its done. I'm not saying the manga is bad. I enjoy reading parts of it. I just do not like the romance and ren torture.

Just going to point out that that's the way it is with a lot of shoujo manga. Often we'll learn of the guy's feelings for the girl before the girl realizes her feelings for the guy, even if the girl is the main character.

I just feel like more detail went into Ren's love. It seems deeper and it didn't feel sudden. Kyoko's feelings for Ren felt like it just snuck up on me. I expected a slower and more steady reveal. It almost feels like a chapter or two is missing. Maybe I just missed the hints or something.

About the lastest comments, I think the author is gonna give a full explanation about that in the following chapters...she has already started to do that actually.
And well, it's not like you didn't see it coming, it's just since we see each other's feelings from only their point of view and when they get conscious of them. By the way, for me, Kyouko feelings where pretty obvious, but as I said, she didn't want to recognize them. Anyway, I really think we should judge all that after chapter 172 comes out. Since I think it's when the real exploration of her character in "that way" will begin. I just hope it doesn't go like "well, it's not like that after all, it seems I was mistaken" and she keep in denial *sigh* because, you know, I'm seriously starting to feel bad for Ren
