I would like to look for romance manga (specificly shoujo or yaoi) which has main character as terrible person. They don't need to be evil, just either selfish, snobbish, arrogant, full of envy, 2-faced, mean, yandere, delusional, etc. In short, the type of hateful person that normally won't be a lead, and usually portrayed at bad guys, but sometimes can't help but make you pity them. I just can't help but care for these kind of characters. It's also preferable for them to be pitiful at the beginning, but happy at the end. (Still ok if not though.)

My example is the herione from Heroine Shikkaku (she is not entirely bad but still full of herself, and snobbish) or Kuzu no Honkai (the heroine is selfish, pretend to be good girl) for shoujo and Azusa (arrogant, cocky) from Caste Heaven for yaoi.

Thank you in advance for taking your time reading this and for your recommendation. wink

Webtoon, Cherry Boy, That Girl - Actually, several of the characters have problems, which then leads to character development for some of them. But, the main female lead.... She is totally unlikable at the very beginning. (If the main girl is acting annoying to readers, then, the whole point of that existence has been met by the webtoon author.) She did things to get attention. She wasn't always like that, but ended up that way.

Bad personality? Yeah, she had that bad personality, and had to hit that rock bottom to wake her up out of her "fantasy".

There were times where I wanted to drop this webtoon, because of the main MC or the story direction, but I stuck with it to the very end. This story has a mixed feeling feel. You probably have to look at it from a very humanistic point of view. All of the major characters had flaws and the onions were slowly peeled back. That was the point. I get it. Ah well...

Thank you very much. I checked that out. Bad persona alright, even I want to slap her in the face. XD

It's a shame that she is not a real bitch, but rather portrayed as a victim from other people abuse's and later on became the righteous and likable heroine with a decent love story.

But I like her ex-boyfriend a lot, he is the one I'm looking for, mean, childlish, selfish, kind of a fool, who would do anything to get what he want without regards of others and really pitiful. XD Haha.

I will continue really reading and see where this is going. Thanks a lot for your recommendation. Happy new year. wink

Kaze to Ki no Uta - a classic shoujo/shounen ai with dual protagonists. One of them, Gilbert, is rather selfish (though, when his backstory is explained, it is understandable). The scanlation isn't finished yet.

Baraou no Souretsu (shoujo) - The main character is Richard III, one of the most classic villains. He's rather sympathetic in this version, though he can be pretty evil too. It is a shoujo, despite the subject matter (and really feels like a shoujo most of the time.) There is a shounen ai element as well, because Richard has both a male and a female love interest.

Cantarella (shoujo/shounen ai) - The main character becomes kind of evil in this one. Set in Renaissance Italy.

Aishiteruze Baby (shoujo) - The main character is selfish when it comes to his relationships with women. He does go through a lot of development by the end, though.

The Chronicle of Myo-Jin - This one is a seinen, but it's one of my favorite villain main characters. The art style is unusual, and it's historical/mythological, so it may not be your thing.

I'm not sure if any of these are as unpleasant as Strawberry in Cherry Boy (except Myojin, who is one of the most evil characters I've ever encountered).

You're welcome! ^__^

Oh yeah. The ex-boyfriend.... To think his character development shows up near the very end of the story. @__@ You'll have to endure... But, glad to know he's the interesting one to you. Haha.

And Happy New Year to you, as well. smile

Wow. Most of your recommendation are historical theme. I love it.
I checked out Kaze to Ki no Uta, it reminds me of another BL manga that I like [m]Poe no Ichizu[/m] because of the art style. Old shounen-ai like this really charmed me eventhough somes of them are difficult to read.

I also read Cantarella. I know a little about Cesar from Madonna, but it really sad to read his story here. All the people he loves left him, eventhough he is a villain, he is very pitiful and lonely and nobody is able to understand and sympathize with him. Such sad fate he bears.

Thank you very much for your recommendation. I will be sure to check the rest of them too. ^^
