Can we just add a tiny little section underneth the "Licensed:" section, telling us how many volumes have been published? =)

I don't like this idea.
First, it would be useful only to americans ( as we have only "Licensed(in english)" section). I'm not exactly dying to know how many volumes have been published in the USA.
Second - who would update this info? Everyone? Updaters, admins? They have enough work.

Nah... you can look all that up yourself easily if you know something has been licensed and the publishing company.

I wouldn't use this much personally, but I think it's a good idea.

After all...

People read English licensed manga in more than just America. Might encourage people to buy it if they can see it's been released by a publisher further than scanlators too. I know it's happened to me.

I'm going with Indreju on this one.

I think this is a good idea that shouldnt be that much trouble to do. I for one would be happy to help up date some of these series.

Also I don't agre with Indreju, just because it isn't useful to you and some other people, doesnt mean it isn't useful for others. If you're going to look at it that way, you can also look at the fact that there is much info on series that do not have any english translations for them, so whats the point in that, the large amount of use who come to this site arn't japanese and dont speak it, so maybe this site should stop the adding of these series as maybe it might not appeal to every body who uses this site (of course I dont actually think that that should be done, just so you know). That and you do realise that not only Americans read and get the licnesed stuff, I for one am Canadian and get the stuff, and also there are people who import aswell, so it would be nice to see this site show some atension to not only the scanlation releases (hell they even tell you about the releases on scaned licensed manga copys).

Sorry for the bit of ranting there, but I felt I needed to make a point. That and I would also really like to see this happen (although it is starting to look like it might not sad )

Well the general vote is that people wouldn't like this very much. =\
@Indreju: I'm Canadian, so I would find this very useful...Most volumes that are published are released on the same time in all of North America. And like Lezard said, just because you don't find it useful, doesn't mean others don't.

There are people out there that will update it, like me.

Sorry if I seem bitchy in my rant. I'm just really disappointed. *sigh*

It's really not that hard to just look up the titles you want on amazon.com. =/ I do it all the time.

Its true that it isnt that hard to look this stuff up, I check the publsihers sites out for this info all the time aswell, so this isnt something thats "really needed" so to speak, but it would be a really nice add on like the "Anime Start/End Chapter" one. I just think that all these nice add ons makes the site look abit better and be abit better smile.

Why not? It may not be useful to everyone, but it would be for a lot of people, all the same. More info is always good. Just because we could find it ourselves elsewhere, doesn't mean it shouldn't be here.

It would be easy to expand it to include other language releases as well. Simply note the language after the number of volumes. As such, it would appeal to an even wider audience.

I don't understand opposition to this idea, other than that it would be more work. As such, just let the community handle it themselves? I dunno.

That would require at least one admin to know each language that will be implemented because he/she would have to check the veracity of the releases. One language at a time would be the best, if the idea is implemented.
I think it's a great idea in theory, in practice..., because people would learn more languages (possibly), and it would allow even more people across the world to read manga.

More info isn't always better.
What I don't understand is how adding it would "make the site look a bit better". I think it'd do the opposite. I hate clutter, waste of space.
I agree with the second half of the sentence though. It would make the site "be a [teeny, tiny] bit better".

I don't know how things are handled at the server, but it seems to me you could actually combine the "Licensed (in English)" and "English Publisher" fields together and include the publishing status. Maybe something like (e.g. Black Cat):

English Publication:
VIZ
14 volumes (ongoing)

As far as clutter goes, this would actually remove one field over all, and give a place to display the suggested information. A similar field could also be used for any other non-original languages/regions.
Additionally, as someone goes browsing through the database of manga and finds one they "borrowed" a while ago or are just finding out about, it's a clear sign that it's available in their area and a subtle suggestion that they purchase it.

Amazon isn't a complete listing.

Example: Kamunagara volumes 1, 4, & 5 are there, but 2 & 3 don't even have entries.
