im realli realli worried at how this will turn out... i mean i agree with most of u. taiwan dramas have been a disastar.. yea they're fun to watch. but they're a BIT exaggerated. now we all kno wat happened when hana kimi came out. many ppl were questioning the gender and IQ of many of the characters. srzly i dont think ariel lin is gonna make it as kyoko... all her past roles are.. rather um. no offence stupid....literally. iswak, ok. was her IQ lik.. 5?.............................. um im realli happy theres gonna be a drama on skip beat but we all would wish for it to be actually watchable...
Kyoko is prob a realli hard person to act out, as shes realli.. extreme.. but shes naive yet smart and talented so i guess if an actress makes it anywhere near her persona, thats a good job smile

Kind of agree with the person above about Ariel...I mean I loved It Started With A Kiss and everything but I just don't really think Ariel could act as Kyoko. Ariel also doesn't really look like the image I had of Kyoko either, no offense but ever since ISWAK I've thought she looked like a pigeon...Skip Beat is probably one of my favourite shoujo mangas of all time and I really hope the drama turns out good as well.

A skip beat drama? Hmm...I'm not really into live action but I guess I'll try that out.

The cast isn't really decided yet, so no worries.. o_O I mean, from what I heard.
It's just mainly rumoured to be Ariel Lin + Jerry Yan.
Other choices are: Bryant Chang, Angela Zhang, & River Chen.
(don't blame me if these are week-old news XD)

But.. Ariel vs Angela on Kyoko..
I'd have to say Angela wins. :/

Otherwise, I think Jerry Yan would be okay. ^^

I actually prefer Angela over Ariel.
Sure, Ariel did a great job in "It Started With A Kiss" && "Tokyo Juliet" but for some reason, I can't imagine her as Kyoko.

Angela's visage and quirk seems to fit Kyoko much better. And Angela did a great job in "Romantic Princess". (:

I think Ariel is a better actress than most of those taiwanese idol actresses. Do I think she is right for the part of Kyoko? No, because, to me, she doesn't look the part (she's pretty but she doesn't look sharp) and she is already taking on the drama Love or Bread and I don't think it would be wise for her to saturate the tv with her image, lovely as she is. there would be backlash. But, should she get the role, I welcome her to prove me wrong about her not being right for the part - Matsumoto Jun sure blew me away with his performance of Doumyoji in Hana Yori Dango when I had doubts.

As for Angela- she's got the right look. i heard her acting was great but I notice she seems to put on this cutesy, almost pouty, muffled voice (similar to Cindy Wang's and that girl in Shan Bao Mei). I'm pretty sure all the actresses use a slightly higher voice too to sound cuter but Angela and Cindy's seem to hit the specific pitch and tone to irritate me. I think Joanne Zheng looks the most like a kyoko-cute, not too pretty but CAN be pretty when she tries- and especially in the days when she had shorter hair. Not only that-she's got the right voice (her voice sounds like that of a tough girl) and her acting was considered pretty god. But honestly, i don't think anyone can play kyoko. As for Ren, I know Jerry is up for the running but I think Vic Zhou looks more similar to Ren.

I'm not sure how they're going to translate this into a drama - like what about Kyoko's ghosts and all those funny side comments and metaphors (like kyoko with a hand coming out of her mouth or the cutting off of the arrogant nose, etc.) which made the manga so wonderful. I hope they don't screw this up like they screwed up Hanakimi. Whoever directed it messed up. Wu zun's acting was wooden. Ella's acting is actually pretty good when she's not doing anything comedic- (check her out in The Rose). But noooo...they had to make Ashiya into a "funny character". And giving a crap ending! But i sort of forgive them for their crap ending because animes do that sometimes too when adapting a manga.

Now after this, about a year or two later, japanese version might come up and all our attention turn to the j-live action...

even though the japanese version of hana kimi was better, the Taiwanese kept to the story line better.....except the ending, that was shit. so there may be hope.

but, how are they going to do her demons! if they miss them out it wont be the same and if they get it wrong, it will look awful no

hmm... i myself dun like tw to make dramas from jap mangas... coz in the end, they nearly always change the story line... and the cast normally are not able to portray the characters well... i prefer jap to make the dramas from the mangas coz i think they are better..
well... those are just what i feel...

I don't think Ariel Lin can be Kyoko, even though Ariel Lin is one of my favorite actresses, I still don't think she can act as Kyoko. Ariel Lin is more suited to those love dramas. Skip Beat isn't entirely a love manga. Ariel doesn't fit Kyoko's image. She looks too happy, I think she won't look scary angry like Kyoko is unless there's like special effects but still, she won't look scary. She can act as hapy Kyoko. But then again, she's one of the best actresses I know compared to other actresses, I'll watch extravagant challenge but I know that I might feel some disappointment. I think Joe should be "Ren" this way we knew that they're like a couple. If Joe appears to be Sho, the plot will be kinda messed up cause the It Started With A Kiss fan will root for Kyoko (Ariel)x Sho (Joe) if Joe became Sho. And Jerry kinda fits Sho's image.

From DramaWiki
On 2009-Jan-08, after management changes with the Japanese producers and problems with the script, Taiwanese producers were forced to postpone this drama indefinitely.

Oh my! Thanks goodness they postponed it.

I really agree with what Verdandi said before: the Taiwanese Dramas always portrait the characters too stupid, wacky, foolish, silly, goofy and idiotic, to put it bluntly.

They couldn't ever portrait the nuances of the main characters personalities! Which would only spoil such a great manga.
I like when the japanese release the series first, because they put a lot of effort into it. I mean, they make as much realistic and close to original as possible.
And also, it has that japanese flavor as a plus.
