Hey guys i just caught up to the latest chapter of Ouroboros and I'm craving more like it smile wink grin another good example of what i am looking for is Shibatora.

I would like it to focus more on the crimes and mystery and if possible have limited romance. I am not totally against romance but i don't like it when it is the main focus of the story.
I don't mind adult themes but no ecchi or hentai please

Also its a plus if the MC is a guy that is perceived as weak or useless but is actually awesome.

Thanks in advance guys ^^

Do you absolutely require that the characters be working adults (ie: police detectives)? If so, then some of my recs won't fit, since the detectives in them are teenagers or not actual police officers.

Q.E.D. and C.M.B., out of which CMB is better, imo.

Tantei Gakuen Q

Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo and its (enormous number of) spin-offs. Scanlations started back up recently, though who knows for how long.

Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro -- Has a prominent supernatural element.

Kuro no Tantei

Border (KOTEGAWA Yua) -- Male MC is psychic. They are actual police detectives, though.

Psychometrer and Psychometrer Eiji, by the author of Shibatora.

Conductor -- Different detectives and crimes compared to the usual. Ditto for Getenrou, 0 no Soukoushi and Ana no Mujina.

Hinekure Shisho no Mikaiketsu Jikenroku -- Psychic detective, but very realistic cases.

Montage (WATANABE Jun) -- Maybe. I haven't read it yet myself.

Yokokuhan + Yokokuhan - The Copycat

Chronos - Jiseidai Hanzai Jouhoushitsu -- Cops, again.

Adekan -- Maybe. One is a police officer, the other is his friend who has a deadly past and abilities to match, and they get involved in all manner of bizarre crimes.

Dolls -- More execution of judgement involved than your typical detective story, though.

Switch - Narcotics-related crime only.

Museum - "The Serial Killer Is Laughing in the Rain"

Himitsu - The Top Secret -- Unusual investigative method.

If you don't mind historical (1950s, to be exact), then the Kyougokudou series, beginning with Ubume no Natsu, would be a good choice. I also recommend the spin-off, Hyakki Tsurezurebukuro.

Shinrei Tantei Yakumo (Novel) -- Psychic detective. There are manga and anime adaptations, but I recommend the novel because it has the full story.

Taiho Shichau zo -- Might be a bit too action-oriented, though. Same for Hotel Tantei Doll.

Toukyou Genji Monogatari (OZAKI Minami)

Reinouryokusha Odagiri Kyouko no Uso -- The MC isn't actually psychic, despite the title.

Sabu to Ichi Torimonohikae -- Crime fighting in the Edo period.

Yuureitou

And of course the iconic Meitantei Conan, though I don't recommend it personally. Too long and repetitive.

@calstine
Thank you for your suggestions!! though i would like it if they are working adults it is not a requirement but i would like it better if they are. Also i love historical manga ^^
I have already read conductor(which i loved btw) and adekan.

just by looking at them i am interested in C.M.B., Kuro no Tantei, Border (KOTEGAWA Yua), Hinekure Shisho no Mikaiketsu Jikenroku, Chronos - Jiseidai Hanzai Jouhoushitsu, Dolls, Switch, and Ubume no Natsu.

also i had a question about the Shinrei Tantei Yakumo. You said that the novel has the whole story but its been awhile since it has been updated, does the manga follow the story line of the novel and just end? or does it make up its own ending? I actually enjoy reading the light novel versions usually but i don't want to get into it but then never be able to finish it.

Actually, I don't know that much about the manga. I started on it, but then the LN began to get translated regularly so I simply dropped the manga and picked up the original. Later, someone told me it was good thing I had, since the manga left things (mostly character arcs, though, rather than plot points) out.

The 10th volume of the novel series came out recently, but the translator's having some kind of personal issue and can't translate it right now. Someone else has apparently asked to pick it up, though I don't think they've released anything yet. You can find the details on the Laute Light Novel Translations tumblr.
