I attended my prom. I went because I didn't want to regret not going later on. Isn't it a bit cheaper if you have a date? At my school that was how it was. If you didn't have a date you paid more. I went with someone so the cost was split in half for me so it really wasn't expensive. My prom was at an aquarium the d.j. was in front of a gigantic tank that went all the way up to the ceiling it just looked cool. The exhibits were opened for us too and at the stingray one you could pet them. One of the main reasons why I went was because of where it was.

When I was in school, the actual tickets were cheaper if you went as half of a couple rather than as a single, but the tickets weren't the real expense - the real $$ went for the clothes, shoes, limo, dinner before, etc. dead

I see your point there. At my school the ride was provided for us and the cost was included in the ticket price so we were lucky. I don't think you need to have dinner before because usually you have dinner there. Clothes and shoes of course can get really expensive and that is the main problem. Fortunately for me I looked in the right places so not much was spent.

I went just because I felt it was one of those things you should do while you are in HS. And it was pretty shitty. The room that was rented was way to small for all the students that went. They didn't serve food and all they had to drink was water and juice. The best part was really going to Shari's with a group after leaving early. Surprisingly enough, a lot of other people did the same thing.

I don't remember-I think at my school the cost was per-person anyway. I didn't go either 'cause the ticket was something astronomical.

The next day was totally awesome at school 'cause we had maybe three kids in my class (same thing happened when I was a junior in some of my AP classes) so they got canceled or we had total free time.

I went to my Valedictory dinner when I left High school and my leaver's ball when I left college. Didn't particlarly enjoy myself at my valedictory since I only had a small group of friends and kept in touch with them all. Plus I was upset that night anyway. My leaver's ball was good though, mainly because my friends became closer and the advantages of leaving school behind at 16 means that in college everyone is more grown up. It's too large to have just a few popular people and no one cares what's in or what you dress or act like. Was lots of fun. I didn't have a date at either but that didn't really matter at the leaver's ball. It made me feel a bit isolated at high school valedictory though since many of my friends were dating each other.

That is way too old fashioned. If you really wanted to go and the ticket price was cheaper if you had a date then you should have just made a girl pay her share anyway. Or you could've just gone with another guy if your school allowed it. If it doesn't then your school is really old fashioned.

My school is all like "Every man must be a gentleman, every women must be a lady, blah blah blah. Let's pretend to be old fashioned and prestigious when we are not. By doing so, maybe we could lure students into our dump by making them think we are prestige"

I'm going. It hasn't happened yet.

At my school, if you take a girl, you talk it over with her. Chances are, she'll pay for herself.

Yeah, I'm going as friends with someone. It'll still be fun though!
