"Highschool is a cult! There's a group of savages that get all the girls, and everybody else is picked on and abused. It happened to me, and look, I'm a deranged mess and my husband cheats on me. I don't want my kids going to a public highschool, so instead we have a prom every year, in my living room."

E-cookies to whoever gets the reference. Also, no I did not attend a prom because I never had one.

I just came here to find out what the hell a "prom" was... I've probably said this a many time before, but I'm glad I don't live in the US.

I went to prom senior year and had a lot of fun. At my school, prom is for juniors and seniors, if freshmen or sophomores want to go they have to be invited. I didn't go junior year because 1) I felt that prom should really only be for seniors enjoying their final year and 2) prom is pretty expensive. I had a job senior year to help pay for my dress, shoes, hair, etc.

I think I was able to really enjoy my prom because I didn't have a lot of expectations for it. I know people who were disappointed by prom because they had some big idea about how it's supposed to be one of the best nights of your life (I guess they watch too many teen movies), and it didn't live up to that.

My prom was last year and I went with some friends ^^ The ticket was pretty expensive but I put together a really nice outfit for under $50! Even though I'm not a social person, I had a lot of fun and I'm definitely glad I went.

I did and it was awesome!!! Food was great, music was a tad bit too ghetto (but I'll dance to anything-country and screamo included), and I was spending it with good friends. I was looking sexy biggrin and I even worked up the confidence to dance with a few random visual appealing guys. My expectations for the night were pretty low (my best friend at the time twisted my arm about going until I gave in), but by the end my feet were aching and I was glad I went.

No, cause I was still a bit of a tomboy when I was in high school and I still have a complex with my chubby or not so sexy body. I'm not comfortable with makeup and dresses back then and I'm a man hater.

I don't regret not going to the prom because I'm not really into shallow socializing.
I wouldn't enjoy myself even if I go because I don't like formalities, uncomfortable dresses and high heels.

Yes, just to get the experience over with. I took my older cousin, who never got to go to her prom. I pretty much sat around and ate while she danced with like minded peers. Lol. I'm happy that she got to have fun at least, and I did see some of my friends there too, so all was well.

Yep. I had fun that night. Danced and partied until my feet were sore and my lungs were dead.

"Prom" was never a tradition in my country but, for some f-cking reason, for the past 4 or 5 years, student councils everywhere are trying to make it happen. When I graduated from high school they held one at my school for the first time but I didn't attend. It didn't make any sense to me (still doesn't but I guess it's a cultural thing). So, no, I don't regret it.

I went to my senior prom. Not the junior prom. Went with my girlfriend cause she wanted to go mostly. If i didnt have a significant other I most likely may not have went. It was really expensive and a waste of time.

No I didn't! apparently because of the behavior of the previous generations that graduated from my highschool, the school banned proms ;'( .
