SK forums is writing a new letter in the future and i will post it next year or whenever here. Some of them even get custom postcards form Miura on special dates. See he cares biggrin .
Nakie08 I drop a series that misuses sex/rape and violence faster the a stone in orbit (just look at some of my review comments here) and i get why people refuse to read it but i never thought that Bersek ever had something morally reprehensible to show.
The big female readership is comming from somewhere right ?
Miura said that he stands behind everything he plotted and drew over the years and outside of the first 5 early continuity nonsense pages i agree 100%.
Uninitiated should check out Ookami no Kuchi: Wolfsmund by his former assistant and Jisatsutou from his good friend if you want to pass the time between breaks.
Vinland Saga adn Walking Dead te comic obviously needs no introduction.
Ah yes seinen is great. May the the God-Hand bless all 8000+ of us readers here and i decided to write a proper comment-review of the series to honor the manga soon.

What is wrong with Motörhead ? They make perfectly fine music(Tony Hawk for the win) and have hair like me. Real men wear their hair proud like Griffith cool .

Rape is rape man. Other people's opinion on it, whether they be male or female, doesn't make me feel any better about it. That's their preference and this is mine. And as I said I liked Berserk, enough to stomach the rape scenes(of which there are WAY too many).

The only sexual assault i would take out is earther the attack on Casca during her escape in the 100 man battle or during the fight with Wyald. I only noticed this during a reread but that came way too fast after another so the impact was lost to me and she came of as a victim. The dick cutting joke though had me in stitches ! What i was disgusted by is the eclipse-rape portrait in movie 3. They made it look pleasurable cry , showed of the "Falcock" proud, replaced the vaginal bleeding with cum and a friend i am currently lending my Volumes so he can learns what the hell he actually got seen butchered on screen discribed the rape it as hentai. I can hardly argue against it. The heightened level of violence during Cascas flashback(4°C felt that they needed to UP the violence from the manga eek was hard to accept too.
The skullknight podcast(both sexes present) had a field day with it and i don´t think that the manga would have won the Tezuka prize if IT was presented like in such a way. Miura took Chica Umino to see at least the first movie but i hope she stayed at home for that travesty.
I also find the rape related miscarriage WAY darker then the sexual assault itself but Griffith needed a new body after all. See logic ! I furthermore don´t really divide high amount´s of sexual violence form "simple" high gore violence. Both can easily kill a series for me because i am not here for snuff of all kinds but the manga goes out of it´s way to have consequences and characterization for nearly everything going on very fast into the story. The woman who´ stomach exploded in the troll cave was the sister from the scene earlier for example. You also wouldn´t see so long and constant reminders of Gut´s traumas and failures. Best of all he is allowed to fail and feel to degrees not many many-mens series would dare go. Gut´s is one of the not too many cases where i like the direct lead in the series the most. Here are some series that manges to have rape that was just the worst. Zetman(7/10), Wolfguy(fun trash-read) or Sexcrime(1/10 hentai adaptation).
I also am disgusted by Hiroaki Samura "mature" tagged work outside of his samurai epic.
Even House of Cards(9/10) season 2 messed up there but is hardly the "worst".
So the writer of this wall of text is hopefully not a psycho confused .
Big parts of the series for me are about hell on earth and Miura did not hold back.
Just the idea of causality alone is VERY nihilistic. Bersek isn´t called king of Grimdark for nothing. I am not holding it against you but i never felt discomfort while reading the manga but the Midlanders have to stomach a lot too. You feeling like shit while reading isn´t so bad in my eyes. Wouldn´t it be horrible and a failure on Miura´s part if you had the opposite reaction ? The SK girls describes Gut´s second love scene(the only comletly positive sex scene in the manga) as a warm america´s home movies moment of the Beserk world and i liked it too. I am obviously hard to offend but i feel anger too(at the hack-mangaka) if i read a trashy rape/gorn celebration but not here. I was unspoiled on the WHOLE series and knew nothing when i went in at age 16. The biggest eyebrow raiser during my first read was the instant the spirits of the dead took Gut´s over and he gave into the best of darkness. He fantasized about raping Casca while eating her(actual breast cutting/devouring is a rarity in violence related media) and the art reached new levels of hell when her head lay in his mouth and he awoke during daybreak to find out that he actuary gave in for a bit before light(and sanity ?) hit him. No trolls or baby cannibalism will beat this scene for me so fast. This one screen is for me the most dark part of the series and i never saw a non-villain protagonist sink so deep and be portrait in such an inhuman manner.

I would be surprised if the kids buy the farm during the current events(one final time skip could happen and all best are off then) and i never felt that anyone is being spared.
The ending should pull a Beebop in my eyes.
I can justify pretty much anything in the manga for at least ME but i for example couldn´t do it for every instance of darkness in the Walking Dead comic(10/10). Not every page of it´s 37 Volumes can be perfect of course but i read way too much of all forms of media(nerdy librarian and all) and nothing has me deeper in it´s hairy claws like Bersek.
Also don´t think that the dark content will stop after the "high fantasy" part of the narrative moves along. Chapter 336 was very ominous indeed.
The Ice and Fire audiobooks(9/10 due to structural problems and some double standards in my eyes) are a treat for a cold winter night´s too.
This crazy post is dry practice run for my review while listening to youtube btw. I wrote a 2100 word review for Naruto when it ended to train my english.
Let´s see what Bersek does to me.

When did your watch begin ? What stuck out to you ?

Talk about a necrobump.
Welp, while we are at it, might as well join.

Did you even read the thread? This last necrobump was barely more than a year. The original necrobump in this thread was over six years (from 2007 to 2013). Now that's what I call a necrobump.

I am good at getting people riled up in RL too but 6 years is a feat am incapable of. Maybe the name of the thread is just too catchy ? May our watch last long!
10 to 15 more years are promissed and i also grew grey hair while reading this epic laugh .
Que this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70GD2SBCq64

I also flipped through the manga last night and nearly forgot how the manga featured the black death because of deforestation. The story is really all encompassing.
If anyone cares how Miura´s angelic voice sounds like here it is:

Good old Apostle Bob over @ http://skullknight.net/forum/index.php?PHPSESSID=vgsm2nddpc1ki66rr878kbfd47& topic=14116.0 re-cut the new movies with the tv show inserted in amongst other thing a while ago so they are more watchable now but that still does not mean that i have to like them.

He did something more noteworthy though that i want to share with all my MU Berserkers:
http://imgur.com/a/ZAp8p
Borkoff reappearances is someone any real fan should recognize but some of the constant reappearances of the more obscure Apostles flew past even me. Isn´t it amazing btw. how well the art on some of the zooms still is!

Did you know that even more recent animated Berserk exists? Now you do as the second (?) Pachinko machine is a thing:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=PqEDFFPGD6Q The Yakuza love it too it seems.

Check out the short (does more exist?) Challenging the Manga Dojos (and give it a rating) if you want to learn a thing or two about Miura´s creative process and why his female characters have so much texture. His award winning Futatabi is a very well done debut piece that deserves your attention too and will pass the time till we return.

Finally i would like to point out that the current hiatus has recently turned into the second longest in the manga´s existence. The biggest break was for the lovely Gigantomakhia of course but he said in J.A. that he would focus on his magnum opus after finishing that one´s bonus chapter so we are either in for a real treat when we return or he is taking time off for once to focus on something important in his life. I for one always wondered what his exact relationship with my goddess Chika Umino is. Oh well and time will tell but he really should go on a proper vacation as his 16 hours work days (!) should not exist regardless of how much he wants his work to shine and he is 48 after all.

"Necrobump"... huh... If only that were the case with Berserk's author... :/
My friend tells me always how much "pain" he's in waiting for the series to update, and how he rereads the series sometimes when he's bored + nothing else is updating...

Sigh...

I don't know if I have read Berserk.
It's...been...so...long...

But yeah the story is good, intriguing, exciting and we have a badass character. Not to mention some exceptional artwork.

Art hm? "It was me,Dio!" who gave the manga Elaborate Art Style (+14, -0) and Art Evolution (for AoT too). Only http://wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Quitely is better at art but he draws at about 1/3 of Miura´s speed. SAKAMOTO Shinichi (faster then Miura) + MORI Kaoru (slower then Miura) are the runner ups in the manga world. I even got multiple changes to the manga´s page approved but i am here to finally share a video with the class:

Youtube´s AWE me (professional smiths) did a lot of anime/comic/game/movie replicas but here it is after a crazy amount of requests and endless teasing (i wrote them a letter too). Gut´s sword in it´s glory!
No this is NOT the Dragonslayer as i have no idea how to humanly forge that one without endangerment but the most popular comment now is that request and the views are off to a great start. It will be a reality one day and i will post it as they forged the Buster Sword (Square admitted freely that they read Berserk and it is one of the most copied fictional weapons in existence) and the Masmune (so long!) from FFVII (best game ever) too.
None of this was designed to be wielded by humans as you will see.
Here they are and take a look at the entire channel as even the forging of the Zanpakuto was interesting and that is just a piece nonsense as even the smith himself said.

Guts' Pre-Dragonslayer Sword (Berserk) - MAN AT ARMS: REFORGED

http://imakeswords.com/anime.htm An earlier version of the raiding sword from them with one from Gunnm.

Cloud's Buster Sword (Final Fantasy VII) - MAN AT ARMS
http://youtube.com/watch?v=xogheZdAO18

Sephiroth's Masamune (Final Fantasy VII) - MAN AT ARMS
http://youtube.com/watch?v=-ySQratOnwk

Edit: I just saw on the Berserk reddit that Bloodborne has the The Beast of Darkness as a boss! Nice but not surprising as the last trailer had a lot of references too. DS2 could have used more imho. If you have nothing to read then play the From Software games.
Or watch http://wikipedia.org/wiki/Flesh_and_Blood that helped to inspire Berserk.

Guts sure get´s around and his name is even written right. (The English game script didn´t bother.) This ad does indeed belong in a museum.
