I haven't finished I"s yet but it seems like Ichigo 100% was more than a bit "inspired" by this manga. Its almost like Ichigo is just a remake. They slightly altered versions of the same characters, similar events (sometimes the exactsame), and it seems like the timeline of events is shifted around. But these are really really minor compared to just reading the manga. When I read it I was like, "wow, this is the exact same."

I really liked Ichigo 100% but its kinda upsetting to see a copycat like this.

i really dont find that much things that are similar other then the eechiness i think its common to see mangas that are in similar genres to have things in common

Yea, I really don't see too much similarity other than maybe the main character, the ecchi scenes, and both being romantic comedies. However, Ichigo 100% is about one character (Manaka) having to choose between three girls who like him (Satsuki, Nishino, Toujo). I''s is about one character (Ichitaka) who is pursing the girl of his dreams, and going to through the many obstacles to make it possible. That's the one reason I really couldn't consider this a harem. True he runs into quite a few girls, but most of them don't really pursue him, nor does he pursue them. He has his sights set on one girl for most of the manga. That's why I would classify I''s as a love comedy and not a harem.

id have to disagree, but i havent read it in a few years so who knows. but i gotta agree with sandman, the ichigo's pushing 3 girls(only seriously two tho) and i"s on the main one separates them.

but maybe this'll get me to reread them and find out?

It's worth pointing out that Ichigo would be the copycat, considering I"s started in 1997 and Ichigo 100% started in 2002.

But I have to agree, the genres are the same, but the stories are very different. I"s doesn't actually have a harem in the traditional sense like Ichigo does, it's more of a straightforward drama-romance hybrid with a couple set in stone from the beginning.

Dude, seriously. You want to see the EXACT remake? Or Copy?

Kimagure Orange Road

One chapter read.. and you can tell Ichigo 100% is the exact copy. Just in the story "psychic" powers are into play. Its not the main point of the story though, just "there" technically.

well I's and ichigo 100% are not the same. and I's has a bit more revealing than Ichigo100% right? i've finished both of them and more like I's is like concentrated on the guys thoughts yet ichigo100%'s on the girls side and a bit of manaka's thoughts..

I have read I"s long back before Ichigo 100% and I also think that they are different from each other. Though they may seem similar, artistry or how the main character gets acquianted with such top notch females, the story is really different.

Ichitaka Seto surely focuses on Iori Yoshizuki, hesitates every now and then but, in the long run, ends up with each other. However, Ichitaka's characterization seems more simple. I mean, did he had aims or goals similar with Junpei Manaka?

I"s is more leaning on the guy's point narrative while Ichigo 100% even gives mention with how the female characters poin of view.

They are both good works, one from Katsura Masakazu and the other from Kawashita Mizuki.

I think I"s is miror of Ichigo 100% since I"s which set standart rule in love manga (almost all genre) while Ichigo 100% is the first manga in love manga history which break the rule

How can I''s be a mirror of something that came out about 3 years after it finished?

But back to the question, I agree that I''s and Ichigo 100% were different story-wise. But the places that they went and even some of the dialogue in Ichigo 100% copied DIRECTLY off of I''s. To me, that's one of the reasons why I think Kawashita Mizuki is a horrible copycat mangaka (Her latest series Hatsukoi Limited also copied a bit off of Salad Days).

ah...of course i's and ichigo r different...
they have some similarity though...

but in i's, the main hero (ichitaka) focus only to chase the main heroine (iori) since the very start...and he did it until the very end...but of course, he had gone through all the temptation from the other secondary heroine...and the story didn't stop after they graduated from highschool...

in ichigo, the main hero (junpei) at 1st he focus to chase the main heroine, the strawberry girl (aya)...but then he lost that focus and end up going out with the secondary heroine (nishino)...hm...i think, was i reading ichigo 100% or ichigo 80% if the ending was like this?? bigrazz i mean...if the mangaka want to make it different from the others, better make it on the story, not the ending...

@loosecannon504 :
hm...yeah...i guess hatsukoi limited sure r similiar to salad days, and i think ichigo 100% also hv some similarity to salad days too...and that similarity is what i'm looking for! haha...and that cliche is what i'm looking for too...coz its not an action manga, don't take the story too seriously...
oh yeah but...i's, ichigo, and salad days...all of em r my favorite mangas...very recommended...

Oh no, I wasn't taking it seriously (It's a romance manga, that should already tell you "Don't take it seriously"), I just don't like the fact that Japan welcomes plagarism with open arms. It makes it look like a country that doesn't know what the word "original" is. I know that nothing's original these days, but with Japan, they literally keep coming out with the SAME story in most genres (Especially harems, I have no idea why that's even considered a genre). Besides, you said it yourself...

You have to keep in mind that for mangaka their manga are their income, they depend on it. So that's why lots of mangaka bet safe, and execute the already worn-out formulas that always have some section in the manga fanbase to cater to. They're scared of trying a manga that's too unique, I think.
