Once again, overrated does not mean bad.

I think one piece is a flaming piece of kiddy garbage, but I don't think it's overrated. It sits right where I'd expect it to.

And I like sepultura, too.

Naruto and Bleach, I read them every week just to see what all the hype was about and I do enjoy them but there are far better mangas around, many which are vastly underrated in my opinion.

A lot of people are slating Vampire Knight which I disagree with. I think that manga is amazing, compelling story and a more original angle rather than the underdog boy who may have a tragic past but is determined to win and somehow, just by sheer force of will, manages to become a ultimate fighting force. Also he probably has some incredible innate power or terrible monster inside of him which allows him to become ultra demi-God like powerful in a short space of time.

I never never never understand why people are so crazy about CCS and goes like "MWAAGHAFSDFH SAKURA IZZ THA CUTEST EVAAAA" geez she's just a damn cliche yamato nadeshico "perfect daughter" dream... And what with her mum got married at 16 and people around her like "as long as she's happy blah blah blah"? It's almost like as if clamp suggests us all to get married at 16.

Angelic layer? Sakura kinomoto tries a game for the first time and win the national tournament rightaway.................

And chobits? geez, angelic layer ecchi version. Go and love your doll more than human.

Wish is pretty damned too. A high-ranked angel disses her duty just for chasing her love and didn't get a punishment at all?? It's so lucky to run away from your job to get your lover and don't get punished...... I regretted myself so much for buying the complete series and was so happy when my friend happily received it for free.

Tsubasa RC? what's with that small head and 2 metre long body?

And for the rest, I must agree with naruto and bleach. There's so many better mangas with similar genres around.

D-grayman I must agree too. The characterization is just tooo cliche that I stopped reading after a few chapters.

Death note, like it but I don't think people should go crazy about it. The idea was good but it goes boring after you know what.

Ahh, for a rather fresh entry, I would also add Rozen Maiden. I thought it was good, but read it and was verrrrryy disappointed. What a shameful taste of humor >.<

I would definetely say that OP is not overrated as the style of this comic remains the same for all those chapters and if you didn't like OP at beginning, means you won't like it any more later.

OP doesn't really try to be deep at all - there are some sad scenes but they just balance from ever happy scenes so it won't get too boring. That's about as much I can say about OP - It never promised to be anything deeper than it is and the goal is one and the same from the beginning of series to now.

Naruto, Bleach and Inuyasha, well, Inuyasha have a good OP but it getting rubbisher as they goes ... Bleach and Narutojust tooo much, I gave up after their very first chapter!!
I don't think Vampire Knight is overrated anyway. I meant, the beginning was overrated alright, but as they go on the story develope and gotten so much interesting!
And to those who said clamp's were overate, I half kind of agreed with you... I mean [m]Chobit[/m] was just boring, so was Clover and some others... but I do liked Clamp works anyway.

I'd say Death note some people like it a little to much o-O.. I can say, with confidence that Naruto isn't over rated, anymoar, if you look at almost any over rated thread, everyone thinks it is, so if everyone thinks its over rated, who over rates it? o-O

Naruto is overrated. Big time. I really don't think that it deserves the popularity that it gets.

InuYasha is also a biggie. It's Takahashi's worst creation but it still gets popularity? That sickens me. It is also extremely repetetive. Naraku anyone?

And then there are One Piece, Bleach, and Death Note. All are EXTREMELY overrated.

bleach is overrated (eventhough i patiently wait for the next chapter every week^^)

I am thinking the other way for Vampire Knight. I like the beginning which is kinda light but I don't hate it too when it turns out that the story is a little bit "gloomy".

as for inuyasha, I agree with you. Boring. I gave up buying the manga a long time ago. Tried it once but then, I have to keep buying it to complete my collection but then... ah... the story is just too boring. A pattern story in my own words. Hahhaha I mean, the same thing keeps happening on and on again. The only difference is the setting and the characters. Just my opinion

Vampire Knight( Average in my opinion)
Eyeshield 21 (quite good a the beginning, now it's boring)

I think pretty much everything that becomes successful/popular inevitably becomes "overrated". It just comes with the territory.

With the success comes the overzealous fans who refuse to acknowledge any faults in their beloved series and do nothing but over hype it. Then again, in response to them come the anti-fans who, more often than not, ignorantly bash it just to goad the fanboys and then it becomes a big childish mess.

When I look at number ratings, especially for popular series, I'll often just entirely disregard all 10's and 1's and focus on the middle ratings to get a slightly less biased feel for it.
